Job Description:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional facility, including making rounds, evaluating care needs, and implementing care plans.
- Administer medication, including narcotics, and deliver all necessary direct nursing care.
- Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, incubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy duties.
- Organize and oversee the 'code blue' team and direct health care staff such as hospital aides and licensed practical nurses.
- Act as the lead worker in charge of an assigned shift when necessary.
- Assist physicians in conducting diagnostic health evaluations.
- Perform clerical tasks, including charting and recording all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information.
- Complete required reports such as incident and accident reports.
- Document necessary information and manage the inventory of all controlled drugs, medications, and equipment accurately.
- Arrange for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations.
- Facilitate the order and refill of prescriptions through local pharmacies.
- Conduct administrative tasks and serve as a liaison within the organization.
- Participate in meetings, occasionally serve as an instructor, and lead problem-solving teams or groups.
