Job Summary:

An enterprise data architect is responsible for the design, development, and administration of data management solutions that align with the business needs of the organization. An enterprise data architect uses database modelling software, master data management skills, and analytical tools to create, maintain, and secure enterprise database designs, as well as to collect, organize, and analyze data. An enterprise data architect also writes senior management proposals, data design reports, consults on database issues, educates management and staff members, and contributes to the strategy and roadmaps for enterprise level initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create, build and lead the implementation of strategies and roadmaps for enterprise and department level data projects
• Design relational and Multi-model NOSQL databases to support business enterprise applications and physical data modeling according to project requirements for data acquisition and security as well as customer-defined deliverables
• Collaborate with internal and external personnel, including senior management, system architects, software developers, database administrators, design analysts and information modeling experts to determine project requirements and capabilities, and strategize development and implementation timelines
• Develop architectural strategies for data modeling, design and implementation to meet stated requirements for metadata management, operational data stores and Extract Transform Load environments
• Create and test physical data models for a variety of business data, applications, database structures and metadata tables to meet operational goals for performance and efficiency
• Support database administrators, network designers and IT personnel to create effective and secure methods for data backup and recovery
• Review existing data architectures to determine overall effectiveness and compliance with original objectives, develop comprehensive strategies for improving or replacing underperforming areas and present these plans to managers and executives
• Research new technologies, data modeling methods and information management systems to determine which ones should be incorporated into company data architectures, and develop implementation timelines and milestones
• Provide recommendations for maintenance and optimization options related to data storage and delivery that includes plans for integrating internal enterprise data resources (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce MC) and external third-party data sources
• Document and organize findings including data retrieval, stand up libraries
• Replicate results and present to management and/or customers as required
• Work alongside data engineers to develop comprehensive automated ELT workflows that align with database design
• Mentor and coach junior team members across the business
