What You'll Do

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Software Security Services product team in our Information Security & Risk Organization! Based on your background and expertise, we'll consider you for a Product Manager 2 or Senior Product Manager 1 position.

This team manages the enterprise vulnerability management program and helps ensure the security of Principal's systems and applications. In this role, you'll be supported in managing several of our products, such as Application Security, Application Vulnerability Assessments, Infrastructure Vulnerability Assessments, and Adversary Emulation. You'll interact with various stakeholders and gain experience in key product disciplines. By developing and demonstrating product practices, you'll help strengthen our enterprise product practice with curiosity, open-mindedness, and motivation to learn all phases of the product lifecycle.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Create and execute on the vision and strategy for our software security capabilities
  • Be accountable for understanding and defining key business outcomes and requirements for your product(s)
  • Foster strong relationships with technical, operational, and business leads, ensuring that end-user needs are at the forefront of our development efforts
  • Lead product backlog and prioritize product features
  • Use metrics and analytics that drive decisions to ensure product development aligns with business goals
  • Communicate product updates, timelines, and risks to internal partners and senior leadership
  • Be responsible for product health and find opportunities for product innovation and improvement

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education
  • 2+ years working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced product environment with product or engineering teams and stakeholders
  • Experience partnering with teams in a matrixed environment, managing multiple technology products through an agile environment, and successfully establishing product strategy by bringing together customer, user, or partner data and insights to make decisions
  • Experience resolving solutions to complicated problems using good judgment and positive relationships to assess risk, and lay-out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed narrative
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate with partners at all levels of the company while advising on complex expectations
  • Shown success in both discovery and delivery against product outcomes; Thinking strategically and making decisions in a fast-paced environment, in multiple teams/functional areas/organizations
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out:
  • Product Management experience
  • Experience working with engineers, technology architects, delivery managers, and/or product managers
  • Vulnerability Management experience
  • Familiarity with security governance concepts
  • Experience informally leading individuals that do not directly report to you
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence


Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range

$106400 - $167000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role will partner with our global teams and has an expectation for flexibility in your work schedule with a frequent 7am CST start time.

Work Environments

This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC.
