The role youll contribute:

The Institute Registry & Outcomes Nurse collaborates with clinical departments across the Central Florida Division (CFD) to improve quality and outcomes to meet national registry guidelines and regulatory requirements. Responsible for ensuring clinical outcomes accurately reflect the care provided at AdventHealth, to allow for accurate public reporting of clinical outcomes. Utilizes clinical expertise to review patient care episodes across the continuum and make appropriate inferences of clinical outcomes for national registry submission. Serves as the clinical content expert on national registry guidelines and specialty-based outcomes. Responsible to collaborate with management to identify instances of clinical variability to provide opportunities for continuous performance improvement. Coordinates Institute quality and outcomes committees or clinical projects across the division (as assigned) with hospital and physician leadership to improve quality and value, in alignment with the organizations strategic imperatives. Responsible for serving as clinical content expert to accurately complete clinical registry element requirements, in compliance with national registry guidelines. Responsible for identification and enrollment of clinical registry candidates according to national registry guidelines. Uses critical thinking and independent judgement to determine appropriate categorization of data elements and outcomes.

Completes longitudinal patient follow-up as assigned by interviewing and assessing patient health status across the continuum, to meet regulatory and registry requirements. During patient assessments, must be comfortable navigating complex patient needs and referring to appropriate provider for further care. Rigorously maintains accurate databases to ensure follow-up deadlines are met according to registry requirements.

Coordinates Institute quality and outcomes committees or clinical projects across Central Florida Division (as assigned) with hospital and physician leadership to improve quality and value, in alignment with the organizations strategic imperatives.

Responsible for validating and submitting registry harvest reports for AdventHealth Central Florida Division (as assigned) to meet regulatory and registry compliance guidelines. Ensures data accurately depicts performance for publicly reported measures to CMS and other accrediting bodies. Supports aggregation of outcomes necessary for center of excellence and payor-based specialty care recognitions.

Responsible for seeking opportunities to maintain clinical expertise to incorporate latest developments and trends related to assigned registry and national clinical guidelines. Attends educational, registry, or other continuing education conferences and training as appropriate.

Assists in the training and development of nursing staff to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of registry abstraction. Assists in the development of training programs and educational curriculum for clinicians to improve quality and patient outcomes.

Maintains professional work environment that is conducive to achieving accuracy and productivity goals. Completes independent validation of variances prior to registry submission and enrollment. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet registry harvest deadlines.

Adheres to hospital policy for protecting patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Strong understanding of complex pathophysiology and surgical procedures to make decisions on the appropriateness of clinical care to measure quality and outcomes

Competency regarding communication and relationship building

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access)

Knowledge of clinical registries, such as: American College of Cardiology (ACC) National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR), American College of Surgeons (ACoS) National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), Get with the Guidelines (GWTG), and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Database

Knowledge of various electronic medical records

  • Cardiovascular or Cath Lab Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other healthcare related discipline and 3 years of specialized nursing experience including, but not limited to: critical care, catheterization lab, operating room, recovery room, and other related clinical settings OR

5 years of specialized nursing experience including, but not limited to: critical care, catheterization lab, operating room, recovery room, and other related clinical settings

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Clinical experience working in a quaternary care hospital system

Experience with national clinical registries as referenced above

CMS regulatory requirements for clinical registries Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) Training

Data analytics experience, including data analysis and registry harvest

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Current, valid State of Florida license as a registered professional nurse (RN)

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) Certification
