Duties and Responsibilities
The Cost Analyst is responsible for evaluating the financial implications of programs, projects, and acquisitions, by
analyzing costs throughout their life cycle, including development, production, operation, and disposal, to provide
decision-makers with data-driven insights on affordability and resource allocation, often conducting cost-benefit
analyses to inform critical decisions regarding new weapons systems, force structures, and operational strategies
within the Army.
This position supports Foreign Military Sales cases by developing cost estimates, performing cost analysis, analyzing
alternatives, and supporting acquisition decisions by providing cost information to decision-makers during the
acquisition process to ensure informed choices are made. The candidate develops and updates complex cost models to
accurately forecast future expenses. They will work with program managers, engineers, logisticians, and other
personnel to gather data and understand project requirements.
Minimum Experience
Bachelor's Degree with 20 years or Master's degree with 18
Required Skills
Creating Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE)
Employing cost estimating techniques and methods including parametric analysis, analogous estimating, and detailed
cost breakdowns
Proficiency in using data analysis tools to collect, analyze, and interpret financial data
Strong communication skills
