Job Description:
**OPEN UNTIL FILLED**
Works with the Executive Director and Leadership Team of Special Education and Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CIA) Department to coordinate the district's work in designing, organizing, and supporting the DCSD Special Education Alternative Licensure Programs for new teachers. Works in collaboration with Special Education Leadership (Directors, Coordinators, Leads) to create cohesive special education professional learning for the district. Provides leadership and support, responding to the needs of Teachers, Teacher Leaders, Professional Learning Specialists (PLS), Building Leadership Teams (BLT), and leaders in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning, especially related to alternative licensure and induction.
May require travel around District using personal vehicle.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree in education, Leadership or a related discipline. Background in Special Education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) years of teaching, leadership or administrative experience at a district or school level
LICENSES & CERTIFICATION:
- CO Principal, Special Education, or other Administrator license or in progress of obtaining
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
- Supervises licensed and Classified staff
ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed in a typical educational office setting with standard desk, equipment, fluorescent lighting, and a moderate noise level.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent sitting, with occasional bending, squatting, or standing
- Frequent use of hands, keyboarding and writing
- Vision, auditory and mental acuity within normal ranges
- Occasional lifting up to ten (10) pounds
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Responsibilities:
Maintain documentation such as attendance, assignments, transcript hours, etc. to ensure all alternative licensure requirements are met; or for induction participants, that all induction requirements are met.
Develop and deliver a learning progression for various types of licensure through the Alternative Licensure Program.
Lead the Alternative Licensure Advisory Committee.
Coordinate work in gaining and maintaining authorization status as a Designated Agency for alternative licensure.
Work collaboratively with team members, departments, and schools to create and implement the DCSD Induction Program for newly hired licensed staff.
Keep abreast of all new developments in areas of Alternative Licensure and ensure that state requirements are fully implemented.
Develop and maintain mentor programs for alternative licensure and induction candidates.
Coordinate with HR regarding employment/hiring and licensure process, etc.
Coordinate work in maintaining authorization as an approved induction provider by CDE.
Communicate with a variety of audiences through multiple media including email, newsletters, presentations, and other forums as necessary.
Collaborate and communicate current information to school contacts and administrators, as well as all other stakeholder groups, concerning the DCSD Induction Program.
Work collaboratively with team members and departments to create and deliver content for alternative licensure in alignment with the teacher quality standards.
