Compensation includes a base salary of $131,600.00 - $219,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Job Description
Cox Automotive is hiring a Director, Accounting - Fleet Services. Fleet Services is a key strategic focus area and a primary growth engine for Cox Automotive. As a trusted leader, this critical role will be uniquely positioned to collaborate with executives across all parts of the business.
In addition to the Accounting functions of General Ledger management, Fixed Assets and adherence to GAAP, this role will also act as a Controller through the oversight of all aspects of the accounting function, including leading teams responsible for Credit & Collections, Billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for the Mobility Fleet Services organization. Additionally, the Director of Accounting will be a key business partner and will be required to collaborate with finance and operations leaders to support overall business objectives. This leadership position will require extensive experience with internal and external audits, a strong commitment to maintaining a robust internal control environment, and the ability to manage large teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teams responsible for maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of the balance sheet, ensuring all assets, liabilities, and equity accounts are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Ensure all accounting practices and financial reporting comply with company and GAAP standards.
- Manage and oversee the A/R process, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, cash application, collections, and reconciliation.
- Supervise all Accounts Payable processes, including vendor management, payment processing, and expense tracking.
- Lead and support due diligence processes for mergers and acquisitions, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and integration planning.
- Lead the integration of ERP systems for newly acquired companies, ensuring a seamless transition and alignment with company standards.
- Oversee internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance and addressing any findings promptly.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Utilize advanced analytics to drive insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Manage large teams effectively.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Act as a key business partner, collaborating with various departments to support overall business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience. A candidate may also have a Master's Degree with 8+ years of experience or a Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience. A non-degreed candidate will have 14+ years of experience.
- 5+ years in a leadership role
- CPA certification
- Extensive experience in A/R, A/P, general ledger management, and GAAP compliance.
- Proven track record in financial analytics and M&A due diligence processes.
- Experience with ERP system integration and "lift and shift" projects.
- Strong experience with internal and external audits.
- Strong commitment to maintaining a robust internal control environment.
- Proven experience managing large teams.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Highly motivated and self-driven.
- Ability to travel at 30%
- Preferred: Experience in trucking/automotive industry.
