Assistant Vice President

The role is within Wealth Management in the Alternative Investments Business supporting products such as hedge funds, digital assets, private equity, private credit and private real estate. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest alternative investments platforms in the industry and it is one of the fastest growing segments of the firm. The AI Client Solutions Valuations Team is responsible for processing alternative investments position valuations in client accounts. This role will join a team who processes position valuation information that is delivered to the firm from hundreds of third-party asset managers and fund administrators. The information provided by the funds is delivered in various formats and must be interpreted to ensure that is processed correctly in client accounts. This role will be responsible for approving the position valuation activity information that is entered by the Associates and Analysts on the team.
Qualifications - External
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant finance industry experience
- Prior operational and/or alternative investments experience is a plus
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred and securities licensing (Series 7 or 99) required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a particular strength in Microsoft Excel is required
- Ability to oversee a team of Associates and Analysts and other individuals to stated organizational objectives
- Ability to critically assess process for optimization and the organization skills to drive continuous improvement to underlying function set
- Ability to ensure process consistency and adherence to all procedural guidelines set forth for a process
- Ability to take direction and work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Firm understanding of the importance of accuracy in quality of work/downstream impacts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively interact with senior management
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills and ability to think and act like an owner
- Efficient time management skills / ability to prioritize competing urgent tasks that team is involved with
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
