Job Description

In partnership with the CFO, the Senior Director, Technology will oversee all aspects of WNET's technical broadcast and digital content distribution operations; WNET's internal operational IT platforms and technology, including but not limited to the organization's internal communications and workflow technology, enterprise software, and hardware tech; and the development of WNET's digital platforms, implementation and operation of a centralized collection and distribution of WNET's data from its array of sources.

In addition, this role is responsible for implementation and enforcement of cybersecurity measures to safeguard company data, intellectual property, networks, and systems; and effectively negotiating advantageous contracts for large projects with third party vendors and contractors.

The successful candidate will lead and continuously improve the technology and operational initiatives associated with content delivery for both broadcast and digital platforms, aligning with the company's strategy and goals. In addition, this role will develop and execute the IT roadmap, ensuring the integration of technology solutions to enhance operations and achieve competitive advantages for the organization with the move of the existing WNET technical plant to a remote location (Co-Lo).

Key responsibilities include:
  • Build a collaborative team of professionals integrating the talents and resources of IT, Broadcast Technology, Digital Distribution and Operations groups breaking down existing barriers and integrating resources.
  • Lead cross-training of skills between the IT, Digital and Broadcast staff in support of team integration and unified business purpose.
  • Lead digital media technology and software initiatives (e.g., digital advertising, social media, video production).
  • Lead the development and technical support for WNET's digital platforms.
  • Responsible for Cloud based Broadcast Operations and content delivery for digital streaming platforms.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure IT resilience.
  • Oversee the design and development, implementation and maintenance of the company's technology infrastructure, systems, and applications to support a remote workforce that will periodically come together in a physical location.
  • In partnership with the CFO, co-leads the Technology Governance Committee.
  • In partnership with VP Advancement/Chief Strategy Officer and VP Content Distribution, support the organization with the appropriate technology platform that will be the cornerstone for robust Data Analytics.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technology and project management, preferably within the media, technology, or OTT sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate client technical needs into complete deliverable solutions and to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Experienced in IT and computer network technology on an enterprise-wide network or national network level with particular emphasis on electronic media content.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in broadcast and digital content production and distribution.
  • Demonstrated track record in building new workflows for data and information workflows across divisions and departments of media companies.
  • Experience in building and implementing data and analytics tools.

Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $211,000 - $245,000. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
