Essential Job Responsibilities
Plan, direct and execute the activities of all Store Opening Solutions' multi-state, multi-facility operations. This encompasses the daily activity of customer program oversight, warehouse operations, safety, vendor and facility management for seven locations comprising 2M+ square feet of warehouse space. The Vice President is to establish and implement all company policies and procedures. This position is responsible for all aspects of the relationship between our client base with emphasis on service levels, standard processes, cost/variance control, inventory control, system development and implementation, and personnel development. Additionally, this position will play a major role in supporting the sales and marketing efforts needed to support company growth objectives.
The Vice President of Operations reports to the Vice President of Store Opening Solutions. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations position are Warehouse Managers, Warehouse Leads/Supervisors, all customer support personnel, warehouse and facility staff.
1. Company Strategy - In conjunction with the leadership team, develop and deploy short and long-term strategies to ensure company strength and growth focusing on fixture consolidation for national retailers and store chains:
a. New stores
b. Remodels
c. Daily orders
d. Roll-outs
2. Financial Management
a. Budget
i. Create annual budgets and monthly forecasts to include revenue estimates along with direct and period costs.
ii. Identify capital equipment needs and expense items for the business unit as projects/opportunities develop.
iii. Review financials and offer accounting advice on business trends.
iv. P&L- Responsible for the budgeted profitability of the company.
3. Business Development-
a. Establish close business relationships with customer key contacts.
b. In conjunction with the Director of Business Development, create and present customer Quarterly Reviews.
4. Operations- Through the operations leadership staff, direct all warehouse and administrative activities.
a. Develop and refine processes, procedures and KPIs to increase efficiencies, reduce processing costs and increase margins throughout all consolidation accounts focusing on:
i. Labor structure
ii. Receiving processes
iii. Picking processes
iv. Shipping processes
v. Inventory control
vi. Quality
b. Act as a Safety Manager and advocate to promote an accident-free workplace through direct involvement in safety programs and teams
c. Support facility maintenance, quality and safety through the "Five-S" program
d. Work with the IT department to develop and enhance warehouse management software.
e. Actively participate in the development of operations staff. Provide training, guidance, and advice to associates with higher management potential.
f. Understand and consistently follow processes outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures. Update and communicate changes to the SOPs when they take place.
g. Act in compliance with and administer all company polices in a consistent manner.
h. Develop and champion a culture of respect and an expectation for excellence among all employees.
Experience/ Skills Requirements
1. The incumbent should have demonstrated skill and experience in multi-site warehouse management including developing and leading change/improvement processes within operations.
2. Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of warehouse management.
3. The individual must possess insight and experience in creating an environment of involvement and worth for each associate in their organization.
4. Strong communication skills are essential in this position (written, verbal, and non-verbal).
5. Experience building and scaling teams and systems.
6. Demonstrated experience establishing KPIs and setting, monitoring, and meeting quarterly and annual goals.
7. Normal physical demands associated with a management job exist. The ability to travel to all facilities and the ability to comfortably traverse warehouses of up to 800,000 square ft.
8. Occasional flights to customer and vendor sites will be required.
9. Proficient with warehouse management systems, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office programs - Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, vlookup, etc.), Outlook, Microsoft Teams, etc. (Preferred)
10. Lean / Six Sigma background on development, implementation & sustainment. (Preferred)
11. Experience in a multi-warehouse facility experience. (Preferred)
