Mersino Dewatering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IoT Systems Leader / Developer to spearhead our next generation of IoT initiatives. With over 1,600 fleet assets outfitted with telemetry systems, this role plays a mission-critical part in managing system uptime, driving application innovation, enhancing customer experiences, and scaling IoT operations.
This is a senior individual contributor role with project management responsibilities. You'll lead end-to-end IoT application development and infrastructure efforts, while collaborating with 3rd party developers, consultants, and internal teams.

Mersino Dewatering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IoT Systems Leader / Developer to spearhead our next generation of IoT initiatives. With over 1,600 fleet assets outfitted with telemetry systems, this role plays a mission-critical part in managing system uptime, driving application innovation, enhancing customer experiences, and scaling IoT operations.
This is a senior individual contributor role with project management responsibilities. You'll lead end-to-end IoT application development and infrastructure efforts, while collaborating with 3rd party developers, consultants, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead and project owner for Mersino's IoT systems and telemetry platforms.
- Design, develop, and optimize IoT edge-to-cloud applications using protocols such as MQTTs, CoAP, and TCP.
- Oversee deployment and remote device management across a nationwide fleet of telemetry-enabled industrial assets.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to capture requirements and convert them into robust technical solutions.
- Partner with 3rd party consultants to enhance IoT dashboards, alerting, diagnostics, and firmware update workflows.
- Create robust monitoring and uptime management processes, including support metrics, SLAs, and reporting.
- Assist in escalated support issues and coordinate troubleshooting with support and engineering teams.
- Drive initiatives to increase IoT data reliability, system performance, and customer visibility.
- Contribute to training content and internal documentation for ongoing platform usability.
- Establish best practices for application patching, security, and device lifecycle management.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in IoT systems development or embedded device management.
- Proven ability to lead projects independently in fast-paced environments.
- Strong experience with Python and JavaScript, including REST APIs and WebSocket-based interfaces.
- Working knowledge of MQTTs, CoAP, and TCP/IP protocols in industrial IoT environments.
- Familiarity with Linux systems, IoT operating systems, and telemetry/SCADA environments.
- Strong understanding of remote asset management, telemetry platforms, and cloud-based IoT architectures.
- Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills across software, firmware, and network layers.
- Experience working with Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines in development workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with a focus on customer-first service delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating IoT platforms with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo).
- Familiarity with platforms such as ThingsBoard, Node-Red, Azure IoT Hub, or AWS IoT Core.
- Exposure to IoT security best practices (e.g., TLS cert management, endpoint hardening).
- SCADA/Industrial controls integration experience.
- Certification(s) in networking, cloud, or security (e.g., Network+, Azure IoT, AWS Developer).
- Past experience with web development frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Express.js).
