Job Description:
As a Principal R&D Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the design and development of nitinol stents from concept through commercialization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in material science, advanced manufacturing, and product development to create life-changing solutions for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of nitinol stents, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  • Apply deep knowledge of nitinol material properties, including shape memory and super elasticity, to optimize stent performance and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, and manufacturing professionals.
  • Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and analyze results to refine designs and ensure product performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to establish robust and scalable production processes, addressing challenges such as annealing, forming, and surface finishing of nitinol components.
  • Ensure all designs and processes meet applicable regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA).
  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for improvements in stent technology, materials, and processes.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including engineering drawings, testing protocols, and reports.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in product development, particularly in the medical device industry.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with design control and design for manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant design software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of driving innovation.
  • Strong communication and customer interaction skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
