Position Description

As a key member of ANY's Executive Leadership Team, the Chief of Staff & Talent reports directly to the CEO. This critical role serves as an operational thought partner to the CEO on a diverse range of work scopes including but not limited to managing Executive Operations, Board Development, Organizational Performance & Learning, Talent Development, and Cultural Alignment responsibilities. The Chief of Staff & Talent collaborates with fellow executive staff to ensure the national and local teams are equipped with tools, resources, and insights to meet their respective performance goals. This role works closely with functional leaders and is the primary executive responsible for planning organizational training to further advance ANY's current and future priorities, retain and develop talent, align people strategies with ANY's goals, and cultivate an exceptional workplace culture.

Responsibilities

Executive Operations
  • Partner with the CEO to identify executive priorities and manage a variety of short and long-term cross-functional initiatives, regularly assessing, tracking, and reporting on the progress.
  • Draft, edit, and produce client-ready communications (e.g. talking points, memos, presentations, regular bulletins, etc.) and other correspondence for the Executive Office.
  • Ensure the CEO has the right level of information to make good decisions quickly and is prepared for the highest value time investments.
  • Collaborate with Virtual Assistant to the CEO to manage key priorities for increased efficiency of the Executive Office and expands the CEO's capacity by helping maximize her time internally and externally.
  • Anticipate and facilitate the needs of a fast-paced executive office to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate Executive Leadership and Management Committee meetings to bring prioritized topics to the table, coordinate task completion, and optimize workflows, processes, and communication within the team.
  • Act as liaison between the CEO and other executives, departments, and external stakeholders to streamline decision-making across teams.

Board Development
  • Serve as Board Liaison between ANY Executive Leadership and ANY Governing Board of Directors by supporting communications and preparedness.
  • In partnership with the CEO, manage Board meeting logistics including material compilation and distribution, as well as ensuring follow-up on action items.
  • Manage Board of Trustees correspondence and communications on behalf of the CEO and Board Officers, as appropriate.
  • Facilitate Board Member engagement, including orientation, development, and compliance.
  • Lead the development and operation of the Governing Board committee structure and provide administrative support as needed to the committees.
  • In collaboration with the CEO and Chief Growth & Strategy Officer, develop annual engagement plans for each ANY Board Member.
  • Work with local Executive Directors and Advisory Boards to provide support, management, and accountability over regional plans and activities.


Organizational Performance & Learning
  • Support implementation of high-impact plans with clear metrics that advance ANY's mission and overall organizational performance.
  • Develop and administer performance management systems and accountability mechanisms.
  • Analyze organizational performance data to identify and lead improvements that offer strategic recommendations. Present insights, findings, and progress to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Codify and advance organizational learning and knowledge collection through measurable outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging internal meetings including monthly all-staff convenings, in-service days, and retreats to build staff-wide alignment on key organizational updates.
  • Support the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team to drive special projects and cross-functional initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.


Talent Development & Cultural Alignment
  • Foster an inclusive organizational culture that attracts high-caliber talent, values retention, and promotes a positive work environment of belonging, motivation, and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop practices that support positive, high-performing workplace culture and behaviors aligned with ANY's mission and values.
  • Design and implement a learning agenda that offers strategies to reinforce continuous enhancement to staff capacity through training, mentorship, values integration, and professional development.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance leadership and management capacity across the organization.
  • Provide coaching and support to senior staff and managers, empowering effective leadership and accountability.
  • Implement employee engagement strategies to gather feedback and build team morale.
  • Monitor and evaluate talent development programs and make needed adjustments.
  • Supervise People & Talent Manager responsible for all Human Resources functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and professional development.


Skills and Qualifications:
Deeply committed to ANY's mission of supporting ambitious, first-generation college students.
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience; including at least 5+ years of management experience in a senior leadership role, ideally as a Chief of Staff or in HR/People Management.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, leadership development, workplace learning and training, and employee engagement.
  • Able to drive innovation, change and growth; experience managing executive level projects.
  • Comfort with facilitating high-level decision making and positively influencing others to action.
  • Solution oriented with outstanding relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Inspires, delegates, and holds stakeholders accountable on all initiatives, tasks, projects initiated by the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator and connector of people, systems and ideas.
  • Excellent public speaking, writing, and editing skills.
  • Superior management, systems development, administrative skills.
  • Exceptionally organized project manager comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deliverables.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to outcomes-driven performance.
  • Excellent judgement and discretion, particularly when dealing with executive matters.
  • Highest level of integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and knowledge of web-based and social media technologies.

Salary for this position is in the $130,000 - $140,000 range, commensurate with experience.
