We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong technical background and deep understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance data. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable data solutions that serve as the foundation for enterprise analytics and decision-making. You will help establish a single source of truth in our data lakehouse and deliver powerful data visualizations that enable stakeholders to uncover insights and take action.

As a senior leader within the data engineering team, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing complex data pipelines, modeling high-quality data sets, and applying data engineering best practices. You'll also mentor other team members and help define our long-term data strategy.

Essential Functions:

Data Architecture & Engineering
  • Architect and implement end-to-end data pipelines, from ingestion to transformation, storage, and consumption.
  • Build and maintain reliable, analysis-ready data infrastructure supporting scalable business intelligence and analytics.
  • Apply modern data modeling techniques to support downstream reporting and analytical use cases.
  • Ensure high-quality data delivery by validating and testing at each stage of the pipeline.


Technical Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of data engineers; foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption of engineering best practices, including CI/CD, code reviews, and version control.
  • Take ownership of key data engineering initiatives and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to develop and refine reporting solutions and dashboards using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Perform exploratory analysis to uncover patterns and trends that support strategic decisions.
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights that tie data to real business problems and opportunities.


Insurance Industry Expertise
  • Leverage deep knowledge of P&C insurance data (e.g., policies, claims, underwriting) to guide data modeling and transformation efforts.
  • Translate insurance concepts into accurate and meaningful metrics.
  • Experience with insurance platforms such as Guidewire is highly valued.
  • Perform exploratory analysis, identify trends and patterns and draw conclusions from data sets
  • Extract complex data from multiple sources into usable and meaningful reports and analysis

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation
    • Proficiency in data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes
    • Experience working with Azure cloud (ADF, ADLS, Data Fabric, etc.)
    • Experience with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau
    • Knowledge of database architectures and data modeling
    • Familiar with software engineering practices such as version control with Git, Testing, and CI/CD
  • Data Modeling Skills:
    • Proficiency with modern data modeling concepts (tools and techniques)
    • Proficiency in data profiling, data mapping, data standardization and integration concepts
    • Experience in cleaning and transforming raw data into consumable information by applying business logic
  • Data Analysis Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify trends and patterns in data
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communications skills to translate complex data insights into clear, concise, and actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of core business concepts and the ability to connect data analysis to real-works business problems and opportunities
  • Team Skills:
    • Strong team collaboration skills
    • Curious, empathetic, attention to detail, and relentless follow through


Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, business administration, statistics, computer science, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, BI Analyst or equivalent work experience
  • Property and Casualty Insurance Experience Required
  • Proven experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and models
