About the role

  • Strategic local functional leader responsible for building and maintaining relationships with employees at all levels of the North American Operations for Wolverine Advanced Materials. Support local Human Resources (HR) needs. Leads local department function and coordinates HR activities through local HR team including employment, performance, labor relations, training, etc. Local HR team includes up to 5 team members. Fosters an organizational environment in which employees show ownership; champions efforts that enhance the organization's performance; creates an environment where best practices are shared among teams throughout the organization; uses metrics to drive continuous improvement.

What you'll do

  • Maintains excellent relationships with both direct business partners and peripheral departments that interact with direct support groups (i.e. closely related departments, payroll, corporate HR, accounting, etc.).
  • Advises business units on matters of HR including employment, performance, labor relations, training, etc.
  • Understands legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts.
  • Represents managements in negotiating collective bargaining agreement; lead company representative on all local Union matters.
  • Conducts and/or advises on all site investigations.
  • Leads talent development and succession planning at manufacturing locations.
  • Prepares / audits operations' HR KPI reporting (e.g., headcount, absenteeism) and provides rollup to corporate in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates employee engagement initiatives with HR team and plant management
  • Recommends, coordinates, and tracks applicable training to ensure compliance with ISO standards.
  • Leads performance functions including annual performance review process.
  • Leads recruiting initiatives and supports local recruitment cycle.
  • Initiates and conducts employee investigations to address employee concerns.
  • Proactively makes recommendations to improve HR operations and value added to business operations.
  • Additional responsibilities and assignment to be assigned as needed by management.

Qualifications

  • 10 years + experience working in HR Manager or similar HR leadership role required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR operations in a Manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience supporting HR operations in a Union environment required.
  • Union relations and Union negotiations experience required.
  • Exceptional employee relation skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and project prioritization skills required.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities required.
  • Progressive leadership abilities, excellent written and oral communication skills and effective presentation skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
