ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT AND JOB PURPOSE
Organizational Context:
INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It comprises 17 businesses, each with a major chemical company heritage. Its production network spans 75 manufacturing facilities in 24 countries throughout the world.
Business Context:
The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polyethylene. Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with a division office in League City, TX. Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC) has one polypropylene unit and seven wholly owned polyethylene units.
How the Role Fits in:
As part of the POCat PP Catalyst Development organization, the Polypropylene Catalyst Process Engineer will be managing assigned R&D objectives and providing support and troubleshooting to the Catalyst Pilot plant operations located at the BMC Technical Center building. This Pilot Plant is operated by O&P US on behalf of the sponsoring sister businesses of INEOS PO Catalyst and O&P Europe.
The Main Purpose of the Role:
The Polypropylene Catalyst Process Engineer is expected to contribute to overall research and development agenda, as well as provide support and troubleshooting to Pilot Plant operations. In this role, the Polypropylene Catalyst Process Engineer will coordinate with both smaller lab-scale experiments and larger scale pilot testing to define catalyst, product, and process performance over a range of potential experimental conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manages projects of moderate size and scope; makes substantial contributions to determining feasibility of goals and objectives.
- Regularly performs statistical data analysis of lab and pilot plant results to feed research and development projects. This includes bridging the results of the pilot plant to other lab and pilot scale testing units within the group.
- Manages the storage and flow of data both for the pilot plant and for the lab-scale testing units within the group.
- Understands and complies with laws, regulations, standards and best practices for safe operation of assets.
- Responsible for the application of the INEOS 20 principles on the lab and pilot plant assets.
- Responsible for the implementation of operation policy and procedures, development and revision of SOP's including operating envelope management.
- Identifies problems and related technical issues leading to long-term, generic solutions; identifies technical approach for solving problems and meeting customer needs.
- Performs tasks of a larger scope and often leads specific tasks within the project scope.
- Sought out for contributions to reports and publications; author/co-author on papers, proposals, presentations, and reports.
- Interacts in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals; provides ideas to improve organizational efficiency at group and department levels.
- Creates, monitors and implements effective plans; takes lead for scoping tasks/projects; assembles research team members.
- Influences important customer and INEOS decisions; recognized for technical contributions by external peer network.
- Maintains external research relationships to identify and develop new funding sources; makes significant contributions to technical proposal preparation and/or presentations.
- Contributes to positive co- worker/customer/investigator relationships through efficient interaction on current projects.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Education/Experience
- 2+ years of experience in research or manufacturing.
- Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree with additional research or manufacturing experience. Chemical engineering degree preferred.
- Industry, product knowledge, and organizational awareness preferred.
Technical skills
- Fundamental knowledge of chemical engineering and thermodynamics.
- Knowledge of compliance and governmental regulations regarding the operations of Research and Development assets preferred.
- General knowledge on mechanical, instrumentation, civil and electrical engineering.
- Excellent understanding of relationship between equipment design and influence on operation impact with ability to apply in other areas.
- Understanding of cross interactions between process, catalyst, product and cost and ability to apply outside of area of responsibility.
Behavioral skills
