The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Completes defined scope and standards of practice. Engages in environmental scanning to identify practice gaps and collaborates with others in improving practice and healthcare outcomes. Functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for Nursing Professional Development (NPD) specialty, and partner for practice transitions. Supports learning, change, professional role competence and growth, which ultimately lead to optimal patient care, population health, and protection of the public.
Increasing Training Capacity in Statewide Healthcare Facilities NYS DOH Grant (temporary position funded through September 30, 2026)
FT position-40 hours/week, days, Monday-Friday, Hybrid onsite/remote as schedule allows
Exciting opportunity for a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner/Specialist to participate in a temporary NYS DOH awarded grant, funded through September 30, 2026. This position will participate in the enhancement and expansion of our Practice-Based Learning Preceptor Program. Working in close collaboration with the Nurse Residency Program, Center for Nursing Professional Development, Nursing Practice leadership, and NPD Practitioners across the hospital, this role will ensure that nursing preceptors receive the necessary training and support for success. Will be responsible for participating in a comprehensive evaluation of the preceptor Program in partnership with the Program Director and making recommended changes for improvement. Responsibilities include teaching a 4-hour initial preceptor education course to provide foundational training, developing an additive skills lab to enhance preceptor competency, and implementing ongoing educational offerings that support preceptors throughout their role. Will contribute to the development of online learning modules to expand access to preceptor education. Will be involved in policy review and development that support and enhance the role of preceptors, ensuring alignment with best practices and system-wide hospital standards. Requirements include a current NYS RN license, BSN and master's degree in related field. Acute care nursing experience required. Additional involvement with curriculum development, program management, or experience as preceptor, educator or leader preferred.
