The role youll contribute:

The Director of Mission and Ministry is a clinically trained minister, responsible for leading and implementing strategic plans and system objectives of mission and ministry throughout AdventHealth, providing oversight for process and outcomes. Participates as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs of patients and providing appropriate interventions to meet such needs. The Director, in conjunction with the Executive Director and/or AVP for Mission and Ministry provides leadership oversight to the chaplains and is the liaison for Mission and Ministry functions. Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of Trust, experience of Belonging, and a future of Hope within the hospital and the healthcare team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Manages and participates in the delivery of certified and clinically integrated spiritual care to all patients served. Demonstrates the tangible difference care makes within our faith-based healthcare organization.

  • Collaborates with clinical team to integrate spirituality into care and demonstrate impact through research and publication.
  • Provides direct pastoral care as appropriate.
  • Provides 80/20 ratio of leadership to direct spiritual/pastoral patient care.
  • Accountable for assuring compliance and providing evidence of performance with accreditation agencies and other regulatory requirements specific to area of responsibility.
  • Ensures that all departments within scope of practice operate within allocated budget
  • Implements appropriate tracking systems for success measures and reports on these as required.
  • Assists market/campus administrator in leading ongoing mission planning cycle activities (Christian Service Plans, Mission Integration Peer Review, Spiritual Grand Rounds, Week of Spiritual Renewal, Budget Weeks, etc.)
  • Assists market/campus administrator in leading local Mission Integration Committees
  • Provides mission/spiritual formation component for market/campus leadership group
  • Leads initiatives in Adventist identity and culture
  • Actively monitors and works to improve spiritual metrics in patient experience.
  • Responsible for leading market/local campus in developing strategic relationships with the faith community, and integrating and aligning mission and ministry objectives with these goals
  • Leads in fostering relationships with the faith community and clergy, incorporating them into the life of the market/campus.
  • Implements initiatives connected with CREATION Life as they impact faith community relationships.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:

REQUIRED:

Masters of Divinity or equivalent Theological degree

Minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education

7 years Pastoral Experience

Ordination/commissioning as minister in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church

Seventh-day Adventist ministerial credential or license

Endorsement by Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries, and Board eligible with Association of Professional Chaplains

PREFERRED:

Residency accredited by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education

Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains
