Introduction
Develops and implements occupational health and safety programs and specific training to address unique Scottsdale facilities/buildings and business operational requirements. Coordinates related Safety programs for OSHA, NFPA and other related code compliance to include Emergency Planning and Evacuation, Inspections and Assessments for facilities, equipment, vehicles, operations and services.

Anticipated starting salary may be up to midpoint depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The midpoint for this position is $88,171.20 annually.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Training, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Five years of experience in occupational health and safety, training, security and/or emergency planning program development.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
Essential Functions

  • Conducts training needs analysis with focus on operational procedures, health and safety and security.
  • Develops and conducts safety training programs and manages the safety program to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, facilitates employee safety committee meetings and safety circle training.
  • Completes and updates Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for all division employees by job description and hazards Identification and Assessments for facilities and buildings.
  • Completes investigation of accidents and injuries using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Coordinates the processing of employee accidents reports through the departments, reviews for content and conducts preliminary investigation as required; develops specific safety training as reinforcement training for employees injured on the job site.
  • Develops appropriate lesson plans and training outlines for front line supervisors to deliver weekly safety and job specific training topics; stays current with federal and state compliance requirements and training approaches for the adult learner.

  • Performs job function in a variety of environments ranging from office to plants and treatment facilities and exposure to common Arizona Climate patterns.
