This posting will be used to fill 1(one) permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly and 1(one) permanent part-time position working 37.5 hours bi-weekly.

It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

Our team

Long-Term Care (LTC) provides resident centered care to individuals who requires assistance/care in various level in their daily living activities that creates a feeling of home belonging for all who live in Yukon Continuing care homes though responsiveness to the uniqueness of each resident. The services vary from intermediate to end of life care (Hospice) where the focus is on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a serious illness who is approaching the end of life.

Home Care offers a range of services tailored to meet individual needs, including acute care, rehabilitation, and support for chronic and palliative conditions. These services are determined through personalized assessments to help clients remain in their homes, providing respite for caregivers and promoting independence and a higher quality of life.

Who we are looking for...

We are looking for a dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic individual to provide clinical care services for residents/clients (Long term care and Homecare) with communication and/or swallowing disorders. The Speech-Language Pathologist is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team responsible for providing direct care and consultations to enhance, maintain, improve, or restore the client/resident's ability to functional at an optimal level. The Speech-Language pathologist plans, directs, delivers, and evaluates services through direct assessment, interventions, consultations, and assignment of task components to Rehabilitation Assistants. This position also may provide training to Continuing Care Staff and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The incumbent contributes to an environment that is inclusive; non-discriminatory; physically, psychologically, and culturally safe.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current registration with a Canadian Professional regulatory body for Speech-Language Pathology
  • Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist providing assessments and treatments in a community environment and/or long-term care setting is an asset
  • Experience supervising support staff is an asset.

Conditions of employment

  • CPR level C (obtained within the past 18 months)
  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearence
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Current registration with a Canadian Speech-Language Pathology regulatory body
  • Food Safe
  • WHIMIS 2015.

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
  • Exposure to animals in the Pet Therapy program
  • Second-hand smoke
  • Exposure to latex products
