What's the opportunity?

The Chief Legal and Administrative Officer (CLAO) Group's Shared Services team is hiring a Senior Director to oversee the CLAO's operations in the following areas: Operational Risk, Project Management Office and Data Management & Reporting. The role reports to the VP, CLAO Shared Services & Enterprise Legal Advisory. In this newly-created role, the Senior Director will be responsible for all Operational Risk Programs, Project Management and Data Management & Reporting, at the CLAO Group level, for: Chief Data Office; Corporate Real Estate; Enterprise Strategy, Corporate Development, Venture Capital & Innovation, Global Procurement & Supplier Management; Law Group; and Regulatory Compliance. This is a unique opportunity to build a high-functioning team for a new GE-level group.

What will you do?
  • Develop and oversee a team of Operational Risk specialists to design, implement and maintain a robust Operational Risk program according to Enterprise Operational Risk Frameworks, Policies and Standards for Chief Data Office; Corporate Real Estate; Enterprise Strategy, Corporate Development, Venture Capital & Innovation, Global Procurement & Supplier Management; Law Group; and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Develop and oversee the Project Management Office for CLAO Group projects according to the Enterprise Initiative Management Policy and Standard.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality and informative reporting to senior executives (including the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer and OC members) and the RBC Board of Directors.
  • Oversee data management and business intelligence for the CLAO Group's data.
  • Work strategically to deliver value to the CLAO Group and the Operating Committee.


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • Experience in creating process and governance for a large department
  • 15+ years of relevant experience at a large financial institution


Nice-to-have
  • Experience working within Operations and/or Risk Management at RBC or another large financial institution
  • Significant managerial experience
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and balancing competing work demands, prioritizing and being responsive to business imperatives
  • Ability to develop a quick understanding of the requirements and role of key internal stakeholders and senior executives and build effective relationships with them
