The Division of Digestive Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA are seeking an advanced researcher at the Full Project Scientist level with extensive experience in autophagy-related research in mammalian liver. This individual must have completed 5 years of postdoctoral research and acquired an additional 5 year research experience in the field on autophagy with a deep understanding of the different forms of autophagy and how these relate to hepatic pathophysiology. The individual is expected to creatively initiate a program that studies distinct autophagic mechanisms into the regulation of hepatic lipid metabolism with a focus of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and its progression. This candidate must be experienced with methods including and not limited to isolation of various autophagic, lysosome and late endosomal, and lipid droplet fractions from mouse livers using density gradient centrifugation, and use of Seahorse Respirometry to determine hepatic energetic states.
