What is Lifebanc?

Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Position Description:

This position is responsible for directing and developing the Organ Services Leadership and their teams to ensure that the strategic goals and initiatives are achieved. They will guide teams according to established standards, policies and regulatory requirements and ensure that maximum productivity and efficiency is maintained in these clinical departments.

Essential Functions:

Provides leadership and direction to all clinical departments.
  • Provides guidance and assists in the development of leadership in both organ and preservation services.
  • Responsible for the management of the transplant, AOC, referral, and surgical service departments in the organization
  • Develop, evaluate, and enforce policies, procedures, and practices to ensure a quality standard of care.
  • Works closely with the Medical Directors with regard to clinical issues, policies, and operations.
  • Works with Transplant Centers to ensure regular communication and collaboration is achieved to maximize transplant opportunities.
  • Perform Administrative and Leadership On-Call duties when necessary.
  • Assists in management of all day-to-day clinical operations.
  • Collaborates with Transplant, AOC, Referral and Surgical Services managers in effective deployment of resources and management of staff for clinical functions.

Responsible for the management of the selection, training, development, and performance of the departmental staff to maintain a motivated professional workforce.
  • Evaluates qualified applicants for staffing vacancies.
  • Communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to assure mutual understanding and desired results.
  • Provides and/or oversees orientation and training that will assist the employee in achieving enhanced job performance, continuing education, and career objectives.

Assures compliance with CMS, UNOS, AOPO, FDA and AATB standards and Lifebanc clinical policies.
  • Monitors training and compliance with all direct reports.
  • Works directly with the Chief Quality Officer on all clinical audits and on-site inspections. Delegates specific preparation responsibilities to various department managers.

Position Lifebanc to achieve Tier 1 CMS status for re-accreditation with the support and oversight of the Chief Operations Officer (COO).
  • Sets objectives/goals and monitors department metrics and trends on a regular basis to ensure that teams are focused on targeted goals.
  • Provides real-time communication to the COO should any issues or situations that have impact on the metrics as well as provide suggestions and input for changes/adjustments.

Collaborates with Medical Directors on organ issues related to recovery practice and/or donor management.
  • Communicate with Medical Directors to achieve maximum outcomes and resolve complex issues.
  • Provide Medical Directors with feedback and needs related to clinical training, education, and communication to ensure maximum collaboration.

Provides direct reports guidance in development and monthly monitoring of budget goals and objectives.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for clinical budget creation and staffing projections in alignment with projected donor numbers.

Represents Lifebanc at the local, state, and national level.
  • Participates and serves on statewide committees that represent or support organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

Qualifications:
  • RN with BSN Required
  • 10+ years of experience in Critical Care/ICU/Transplant hospital setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience managing multi-level teams.
  • Previous experience at Organ Procurement Organization or Transplant Center is a plus.
  • Active RN license.
  • BLS/ACLS certification required.
  • Self-directed, self-confident, self-motivated, results oriented; ability to motivate and direct individuals to drive change and improvement.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and people skills. Able to establish priorities, multi-task, and function independently.
  • Ability to mentor staff, be visible in practice and behave with integrity.
