Position Overview

The Director of Revenue provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the entire revenue cycle at AICA Orthopedics, a leading integrated healthcare provider with 21 locations across metro Atlanta specializing in orthopedic, neuro-spine, and pain management services.?

This position leads a multidisciplinary team focused on maximizing revenue capture, optimizing collections performance, and transforming underperforming revenue areas into centers of excellence. With particular emphasis on personal injury and attorney-related collections, the Director develops and implements innovative strategies to ensure financial sustainability and growth.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute comprehensive revenue cycle strategies that align with organizational goals and maximize financial performance
  • Lead transformation initiatives to improve collection rates, particularly in the attorney collections segment
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for all revenue cycle functions, with specialized metrics for personal injury cases
  • Create and maintain analytics dashboards that provide actionable insights for executive decision-making
  • Negotiate strategic partnerships with insurance companies and develop innovative approaches to attorney collections

Operational Management
  • Oversee pre-authorization, eligibility verification, claims submission, payment posting, denial management and all related revenue functions
  • Direct specialized teams including attorney collections, insurance verification, medical records, and accounts receivable
  • Implement and maintain quality control standards and audits across all revenue departments
  • Optimize workflow structures, staffing models, and resource allocation to maximize productivity
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the revenue cycle through process analysis and redesign

Team Development
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development to revenue cycle team members, including the Strategic Collections Manager and supporting staff
  • Cultivate a high-performance culture that balances analytical thinking with decisive action
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and maintain accountability for results
  • Identify training needs and implement educational programs to enhance team capabilities
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration between clinical and financial departments

Compliance & Industry Standards
  • Ensure adherence to AAPC guidelines and industry coding standards
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving healthcare regulations and payer requirements
  • Attend professional seminars and continuing education programs to stay current on revenue cycle best practices
  • Oversee proper documentation and coding practices that maximize appropriate reimbursement
  • Lead annual chargemaster review and updates

Special Focus: Personal Injury Revenue Optimization
  • Develop specialized strategies for managing the complex revenue cycle of personal injury cases
  • Oversee the transformation of attorney collections operations into a strategic financial function
  • Establish protocols for consistent and effective negotiation with law firms and insurance carriers
  • Implement data-driven approaches to case tracking, settlement analysis, and performance improvement
  • Balance aggressive collections tactics with relationship management to ensure sustainable revenue growth


Position Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Revenue cycle certification preferred (CRCR, CRCP, or similar)
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle management
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing multi-functional revenue teams
  • Demonstrated success in transforming underperforming revenue operations
  • Experience with personal injury billing and attorney collections strongly preferred

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with NextGen EHR/PM platform (preferred) or equivalent systems
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and experience with business intelligence tools
  • Strong understanding of medical coding, billing regulations, and reimbursement methodologies
  • Expertise in data analysis, financial forecasting, and performance metrics
  • Ability to develop and interpret complex financial reports and dashboards

Leadership Qualities
