SUMMARY

Acts as a key contributor and strategic resource for the planning and execution of the Logistics department goals. Maintains overview and deep knowledge of the overall Subaru vehicle logistics network from a national, holistic scope, including all elements of the rail and ports network. This includes the analysis, planning, and daily support of the vehicle logistics network and systems that support the processes, as well long-term planning and forecasting. Utilizes a high degree of collaboration and communication, both written and verbal, with Subaru of America (SOA), outside carrier partners, processors, and other third-party logistics services (3PLs).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyzes and monitors the overall Subaru vehicle logistics network from a national, holistic scope, including all elements of the rail and ports network. Proactively identifies and resolves bottlenecks within the network for haul away and rail at all origin and destinations. Communicates multiple times throughout the week on dwell, bad orders, transloads, and other rail tracing findings.
  • Creates monthly wholesale targets by carline and provides drafting estimates throughout the month for upper management. Communicates strategy and rationale to executive management. Performs data analytics, completes trend reviews, and creates presentations and visual reporting for upper management.
    Creates and communicates short-term and long-term forecasts for Subaru of America's (SOA's) rail / haul away partners. Provides forecasting for TTX (railcar pooling company) for weekly, three- (3)-month, and annual plans. Proactively reports railcar shortages to TTX to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Participates in and contributes to weekly and daily calls with rail partners, actively working to manage and advocate for railcar supply at SOA origin points. Facilitates discussions and addresses urgent and complex matters. Escalates larger issues to manager and collaborates with manager on resolving the issue and implementing the solution.
  • Works closely with the Vehicle Logistics Planning Manager on the studying of new lanes and provides department management with suggestions for network improvement. Helps determine best practices using expertise and knowledge of network operations.
    Coordinates, creates content, and, along with management, leads carrier performance calls, discussing and counseling on dwell, volume projections, and damaged claim trends.
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal SOA departments and outside vendors for the management for special transportation requests.
    Maintains, coordinates, and executes strategic planning and projects to support evolutions and growth of the SOA vehicle logistics network. Develops an understanding of all the functions and responsibilities within the group to handle workloads and escalations and to suggest improvements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Resolves systems issues and exceptions.
  • Assists in system set ups and transportation re-routes.
  • Creates performance ad hoc analysis at the request of department management and works with department intern on creation and refinement of routine reporting.
  • Communicates with SOA Region and external partners on vehicles traveling via marine to SOA retailers in Alaska.
  • Assists the Vehicle Logistics Planning Manager in the analysis of carrier-requested rate increases.

REQUIRED SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fundamental knowledge of vehicle logistics and operations or fundamental understanding of Subaru of America (SOA) Sales network.
  • Knowledge of the current SOA vehicle distribution network
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of SOA and Subaru Corporation (SBR) management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced in operating Excel functions such as pivot tables, lookups, power queries, graphing, and conditional formatting.
  • Experience with SOA systems and software including Oracle STARS, Business Intelligence (BI), and/or Qlik, or ability to learn and understand multiple systems and their interdependencies.
  • Strong business analysis and reporting skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and balance multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of process improvement practices.
  • Strong leadership competencies in order to be proactive and see the big picture.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 4-Year College Degree (BA, BS) or experience in lieu of degree and at least 6-8 years experience

WORK ENVIORNMENT
  • Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)
  • Travel: 10%

COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $83800 - $95000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Additionally, this role is bonus-eligible, with a target bonus percentage that provides an opportunity to earn even more based on your performance. (Internal Job Grade: P3)
