Description:

The Electrical Engineer III will work out of our headquarters office in Tulsa, OK and will travel 20-40% to field locations. The position is primarily responsible for the creation and implementation of electrical power systems design for new construction and maintenance projects; for the integration of the electrical power systems design into the overall project plans; for the planned maintenance of components of the electrical power system; and for the administration of construction and maintenance contracts related to electrical power systems. This position participates in Reliability Centered Maintenance, Reliability Centered Design, and Reliability other Engineering initiatives and condition monitoring data analysis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.

1. Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follows safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company including: applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems; and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities, and observes the workplace to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and takes appropriate action.

2. Leads increasingly complex project teams and participates in cross-functional company initiatives proving electrical engineering support to internal and external groups, coordinates schedules and work assignments of project staff and vendors, and works to resolve engineering design and test problems.

3. Leads the management of electrical engineering and maintenance projects from initiation through closure including, but not limited to, design, completion of field surveys, preparation of estimates, the development of project plans and bid packets, the purchase of materials, the selection and management of external contractors, coordination of construction, installation, and inspection activities, reporting project status updates, monitoring budgets and timelines, managing change controls, managing start-up, preparing as-built data, implementing personnel training, and completing post project reviews.

4. Compiles information and prepares reports regarding the status of projects.

5. Leads complex tasks such as the design and implementation of new electrical systems and/or upgrades of existing systems, the commissioning of new

equipment and systems, managing the required Electrical Safety training and standards/specifications for use within the Company's pipelines.

6. Serves on Company initiatives and/or projects, as assigned.

7. Conducts pre-construction/installation meetings with contractors and government agencies to resolve issues prior to the start of the project. Oversees the process of updating existing protective relays settings or programming used in electrical power systems and maintaining a record of these relay settings or programming.

8. Provides direct guidance to electrical and construction inspectors at job sites. Provides guidance to the project implementation contractors through meetings and on-site guidance.

9. Evaluates any construction or demolition plans by internal or external parties that would encroach or affect existing electrical assets or systems, collects input from internal personnel regarding the effect on electrical system, assets, or components.

10. Prepares engineering studies and cost estimates for others and provides technical suggestions to internal departments to improve system operations or efficiencies.

11. Supports operations and other engineering disciplines in the planning and execution of projects.

12. Assists, as needed, with both internal and regulatory audits including providing requested documentation or answering project questions.

13. Creates or supervises the creation of engineering designs and drawings for construction of new electrical and power facilities, maintenance and/or the upgrade of the systems and/or components to include the development of process mapping and updating existing process maps, and prepares operations and safety procedures based upon the process maps related to electrical power systems.

14. Prepares or directs the development of the electrical portion of the Reliability Group budget proposal to include annual expense, warehouse stock, capital, and department budgets, and prepares project write-ups with estimated costs and schedule in support of these recommendations to be submitted to management.

Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in the implementation of electrical and power component designs for new construction and maintenance projects within the pipeline industry is required. Specialized education, which provides additional knowledge in the design and operation of high voltage power systems and induction motors: PdMA analyst certification, Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM), and Thermography

Level I certification within one-year of hiring. Certification as a Certified Reliability Leader (CRL or CMRP), a Project Management Professional (PMP), and as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to actively engage in safe behavior and understand and follow the principles and methods related to pipeline and workplace safety as established by the Company.
Knowledge of emergency and safety procedures, policies procedures, equipment operating parameters, and all applicable DOT, EPA, FERC, DHS and OSHA requirements.
Knowledge of principles and methods for planning, monitoring, tracking, and managing the people, time, budget, and quality of work on project(s).
Expert level knowledge of high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems.
Well-developed ability to integrate designs into project plans and administer maintenance and construction contracts during the implementation of electrical and power component designs.
Well-developed ability to utilize computer hardware and software (such as SKM Power System and Relay Software - GE Multilin and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)) to manage, record, and evaluate company information.
Skill in using Microsoft Office products including Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Expert level skill and manual dexterity needed to operate Multimeters, vibration detectors, oscilloscopes, high potential testers, and Megger resistance testers.
Ability to design and analyze high voltage power systems and develop resolution of problems relating to the use of the Company's power systems.
Ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; set objectives and goals; break down work into the process steps; develop schedules and tasks people assignments; anticipate and adjusts for problems and roadblocks; measure performance against goals; evaluate results.
Ability to establish relationships and networks across a broad range of people and groups to foster the insight necessary for providing strategic services which integrate with the business/organizational capabilities and successes.
Knowledge of effective teamwork and collaboration tools and practices.
Knowledge and proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Knowledge in applying applicable codes governing electrical system operation, upgrades, new installations, and repairs including but not limited to: API 541, API 841, NEMA, and NFPA.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the work of others.
Well-developed written communication skills for the negotiation of contracts with vendors, development of bid specifications for projects.
Well-developed verbal communication skills to present and get agreement to project requirements and construction plans from internal stakeholders and government agencies and to communicate construction and installation plans to external contractors and inspectors.
Ability to investigate new technology which assists in complex problem solving and improved efficiency in electrical and power systems.
Ability to effectively work and cooperate with supervisors, co-workers and vendors.
Ability to follow corporate policies and the directions of supervisors.
Ability to refrain from causing or contributing to the disruption of the workplace.
