JOB TITLE: Procurement Manager - Finlays Solutions

DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain/Operations

REPORTS TO: VP Supply Chain

LOCATION: Lincoln, Rhode Island

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for purchasing of all assigned categories and the development of strategies and procedures to optimize cost, lead-times and quantities on all inbound components while mitigating risk. Accountable for strategy execution supporting global direct and/or indirect spending. Develop Objectives, Goals, Strategies, and Measures for purchasing all commodities and materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Lead and negotiate the sourcing of materials and services to assure optimal Cost against budget, MOQ/Quality, Delivery, & Innovation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to assure the lowest overall cost while mitigating risk to the Corporation.
  • Promotes high level of customer satisfaction in supporting the needs of projects & requirements for Purchasing guidance & leadership.
  • Participates in the global planning and forecasting process to assess standard costs and provide explanations for price variances.
  • Collaborate with the Global Coffee Buying Team in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to create true alignment and integration internally and externally.
  • Build supplier relationships and develop operation planning strategies with Global Supplier Relationship Management team. Identify and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers based on quality and price and ensure compliance with our purchasing standards including sustainability. Collaborate with internal stakeholders Production, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain to understand their Purchasing needs and requirements, including actively identifying opportunities for cost savings and helping to support product development, innovation and sustainability.

ADDITONAL DUTIES:
  • Working with the warehouse/logistic managers to develop coordinated shipping/receiving program.
  • Measure/manage delivery performance through ERP system to establish vendor ratings.
  • Communicate complaints to vendors as needed and provide proper follow-up and resolution.
  • Assist in the development of additional lean programs.
  • Manage a team of buyers and purchasing agents, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals
  • Member of 1Finlays' Food Safety Team and is responsible to ensure that policies and procedures regarding food safety are followed.
  • Participate in the Global Compliance Team meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICTIONS:
  • Knowledge of domestic and global purchasing principles, policies, and procedures in a food manufacturing environment. Knowledge of FSMA (Food Safety Management Act) and its impact on overseas suppliers.
  • Experience in negotiating with global companies in international settings.
  • Demonstrating a future-focused mindset, showing curiosity about industry trends, digital solutions and innovation for customers and translating opportunities into business strategies.
  • Strategic sourcing and risk mitigation management.
  • Business acumen and financial understanding on how procuring materials and commodities brings financial value to the overall profit and loss.
  • Capability to build relationships globally both internally and externally.
  • Organizational agility, influencing stakeholders and interacting effectively with senior leaders based on a deep understanding of business priorities and projects.
  • Modelling trust, integrity, and perseverance

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10 + years' experience in global sourcing and purchasing.
  • Experience with commodity purchasing.
  • CPM or APICS certification preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Office environment.
  • International travel is required to meet and develop vendor relationships.
  • Domestic travel +/- 10%.
