Overview: This senior position within Citizens Bank's Office of Fair and Responsible Banking leadership team reports to the Head of Fair and Responsible Banking. The role is responsible for creating and executing a strategic plan to address evolving regulatory requirements surrounding Consumer Protection and Customer Harm centric regulations and industry best practices. The Compliance Director leads a team of Fair Banking experts to provide qualitative guidance and expertise, as well as quantitative data using analytics.

The role is responsible for creating and executing a strategic plan to address evolving regulatory requirements surrounding Consumer Protection and Customer Harm centric regulations and industry best practices. The Compliance Director leads a team of Fair Banking experts to provide qualitative guidance and expertise, as well as quantitative data using analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain enterprise-wide policies and programs including UDAAP, SCRA/MLA, ADA, and Complaint Handling.
- Participate in risk reporting, training, and documentation of procedures & guidelines.
- Engage with Internal Audit and Regulatory Agencies, providing documentation and written responses to inquiries.
- Actively involved in issues remediation, including all issue remediation with identified customer harm.
- Regularly interact with stakeholders to ensure adherence to UDAAP, SCRA/MLA, ADA, and Complaint Handling requirements.
- Draft clear and concise reports of ongoing UDAAP, SCRA/MLA, ADA, and Complaint monitoring and risk assessments, communicating results to Compliance Management.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert and Advisor regarding UDAAP and consumer protection risks, including SCRA/MLA and ADA.
- Exercise good judgment in assessing the significance and relevance of identified potential consumer protection risks.
- Stay current with the regulatory environment and expectations through discussions with peers, seminars, webinars, roundtables, law firms, bankers' associations, etc.
- Provide regular reporting and metrics to the Fair Lending Oversight Committee and other governance forums as applicable.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experienced compliance leader with expert knowledge of consumer protection laws (UDAAP, SCRA/MLA, ADA) and regulations (minimum of 8 years applicable experience).
- Demonstrated track record of innovative and progressive means to address emerging compliance trends.
- Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.
- Ability to leverage compliance data analytics for consumer products, including AI/ML, and demonstrate actionable guidance to business partners.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Familiarity with compliance analysis software preferred.
- Proactive with the ability to work independently and deliver superior, timely results.
- Critical thinking and the ability to "connect the dots" of multiple data points across multiple business units to develop a comprehensive assessment of UDAAP and consumer protection risk.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to convey complex topics and recommendations (written, verbal, and listening).
- Ability to effectively influence and engage stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory examiners.
- Strategic understanding of consumer banking strategies and objectives.
- Substantive and current knowledge of UDAAP and consumer protection industry best practices, including risk assessment and issue management and remediation.
- In-depth knowledge of complaint management, oversight, analytics, and reporting.

Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent.
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification or equivalent is preferred.
