Center for Human Development, (CHD), is currently looking for an LPN Scheduler to join our new Enhanced Medical Group Living Environment (EMGLE) program. This brand new 18-bed facility in East Longmeadow, MA allows you the ability to provide quality care and support to those we serve with a small client ratio. You will work alongside a supportive team of LPN's, CNA's, and Direct Care staff providing care and compassion all the while gaining valuable experience in CHD's modern EMGLE facility.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE EMGLE FACILITY:
The Enhanced Medical GLE (EMGLE) provides a variety of skilled healthcare and supportive services including around the clock nursing and personal care assistance to Persons with mental illness in addition to compounding medical needs.
In this role, The LPN Scheduler is responsible for fulfilling all standard LPN duties as part of the regular nursing rotation, while also managing scheduling functions and providing limited administrative oversight related to staffing coverage and continuity of care.
A competitive hourly wage of $40.00/hr and an attractive benefit package are available with this LPN Scheduler opportunity. Schedule is 3pm-11pm, rotating days and every other weekend.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN LPN SCHEDULER:
Scheduling & Staffing Coordination:
- Develop and maintain the master schedule for LPNs and CNAs, ensuring appropriate coverage across all shifts.
- Manage call-outs in real time, adjusting the schedule as needed to maintain safe staffing levels.
- Proactively fill open shifts by reaching out to per diem staff, or reassigning available team members as needed.
- Coordinate coverage for anticipated absences, holidays, and other scheduling gaps.
Administrative On-Call Responsibilities:
- Serve as the administrative on-call nurse every other week to respond to staffing emergencies and ensure shift coverage.
- Communicate effectively with leadership when there are recurring call-out patterns or coverage issues.
- Step in to provide direct care (LPN or CNA role) only when coverage cannot be secured through other means and care would otherwise be disrupted.
Administrative Oversight:
- Provide basic oversight related to staffing operations to help ensure consistent quality of care and smooth day-to-day functioning.
- Support the Nurse Manager in identifying ongoing staffing concerns or trends.
Shift Pass-Over:
The LPN assigned to each wing is responsible for facilitating a thorough and efficient shift pass-over. This includes:
- Ensuring all outgoing and incoming staff are present before shift pass-over begins.
- Conducting a detailed report exchange to communicate resident updates, outstanding tasks, and any concerns.
- Verifying that all necessary documentation is completed before the outgoing staff leaves.
- Addressing any immediate questions or issues to ensure continuity of care.
Oversight of CNAs:
Each LPN is responsible for overseeing the CNA(s) assigned to their wing and ensuring quality care standards are met. This includes:
- Overseeing CNA performance and ensuring all assigned shift duties are completed, including groups as needed.
- Ensuring CNAs provide timely and appropriate care to residents.
- Redirecting CNA behavior if it does not comply with the CHD Code of Conduct or The Heron House policies and procedures, and communicating any concerns to leadership.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts Valid Nursing License
- Two years' experience working as a Nurse preferred
- Behavioral health experience preferred
- Valid driver's license and registered vehicle
SUCCESS FACTORS:
- Knowledge of clients' behavioral dynamics in order to provide most effective treatment
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate medical and administrative records
- Ability to structure and organize job responsibilities with minimal supervision
