Position Summary
Parker Lord Electromechanical Systems (EMS) is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. We are looking for a candidate who has working experience designing, developing, and verifying embedded software in aerospace and/or industrial applications. The candidates should be familiar with industry-standard software development and design assurance practices (such as DO-178 or IEC 61508) and their application across the entire software development life cycle.
This position is in Cary, NC with 4 days on site, 1 day work from home.

Responsibilities
Our charter is to develop electromechanical sensing and actuation systems in the following areas: active noise and vibration control, drive shaft torque sensing, and tactical feedback/steer - by - wire. The Software Engineering team works closely with the Systems and Electronic Hardware Engineering teams to develop, qualify, and certify these technologies as products for our customers in aerospace and industrial markets. The individual will have the following responsibilities:
- Takes direction from systems and software leads to complete project work.
- Develop embedded software using C and/or model-based tools such as Simulink.
- Develop high level and low level software requirements.
- Create requirements-based testing on target hardware using both real and simulated inputs/outputs.
- Analyze software requirements, design, and code to assure compliance to standards and guidelines.
- Perform traceability analysis of customer specification requirements to software code.
- Participate in software certification audits, eg. stages of involvement (SOIs)

We are seeking an engineer with experience working in a new product development environment. The following are key requirements to be successful in this position.
REQUIRED:
- Education:
- BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ yrs of experience in performing software development, verification, and/or integration.
- Strong technical aptitude with analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a team environment, cultivate strong relationships, and demonstrates initiative.
- Must be a US Citizen or US Perm Resident.
- Experience with C programming language.
- Experience with model-based software development using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience developing embedded software for controls systems.
- Experience planning and executing projects using Agile software development methodology.
- Experience managing requirements using DOORs or DOORS Next Gen (DNG).
- Experience with digital signal processing or digital filter design.
- Experience with TI or ARM microprocessors.
- Experience with serial communication protocols (e.g CANbus, ARNIC, RS-232-, Ethernet)
- Familiarity with aerospace (e.g DO-178, DO-330, DO-331) and/or industrial (e.g IEC 61508) software certification requirements.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 2626 or ARP4761
