Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is looking for an experienced product leader to define product strategy and play a key role in accelerating the adoption of containers and cloud native technologies on AWS.

As part of the Amazon EKS team, you will be responsible for imagining, designing, and building the next generation of application and infrastructure management tools used by some of the largest and most impactful organizations in the world. You will be the voice of the customer within AWS, prioritizing development of new products and features, defining requirements, guiding engineering teams, and building go-to-market strategy. This role will be visible at the highest levels of the company and requires coordination across many internal and external teams.

You'll succeed in this role if you are someone who is never satisfied with the status quo, motivated to take on challenging problems, understand the power of good decisions, and are able to easily work with multi-disciplinary teams of people. We are looking for someone with a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically; who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects. This position requires a solid technical background and strong communication skills. You should have an established history of customer-focused product development with a passion for distributed systems and cloud technology. Past experience working with containers, Kubernetes, or developer tooling, is a plus, but not required.

Key job responsibilities

* Define products by working backwards from the needs of different customer segments / jobs-to-be-done

* Manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution

* Establish goals, analyze metrics and product usage data to identify new opportunities

* Lead user research to identify new opportunities to innovate on behalf of our customers

* Create the vision, product strategy and road map for our products and working with key stakeholders in the company to deliver on that vision, e.g. sales, partner team, international site leaders, etc.

* Build the go-to-market plan and work to ensure that sales, SAs, and the partner teams have what they need to be successful

A day in the life

* Lead customer meetings and roundtables

* Write product requirements for new features

* Whiteboard with product/engineering/UX stakeholders to iterate on user experience

* Define long-term roadmap for products with thousands of customers

* Present multi-year strategy plans to leadership

* Provide feedback on cross org product, engineering, and business documents

* Perform deep dive analysis on business performance metrics

* Speak at AWS and industry conferences

* Mentor and develop peers, attend internal training summits

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of technical product management with internet business experience

- Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)

- BA degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent

- 3+ years of technical (software development, network development, IT, other related) experience

- Experience in taking a product from conception & definition phase through engineering design and taking it to market

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience working within teams delivering software products and features using agile methodologies

- Master's degree in computer science, information systems or business

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
