Job Summary:

TCS is seeking a highly motivated Engineer III professionals to support the Submarine Battery In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) team at NSWC Crane. This role focuses on root cause analysis and continuous improvement for Submarine Main Storage Batteries - critical to fleet readiness and national deterrence.

The work will initially be data-focused, with opportunities to develop technical depth in chemical, electrical, and mechanical aspects of submarine battery systems. Ideal candidates are fast learners who take initiative, are comfortable handling complex datasets, and are eager to contribute to long-term improvements.

Essential Functions:
  • Analyze data from battery manufacturing and on-hull performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor laboratory testing and draft detailed technical reports.
  • Prepare data packages and technical briefs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide support across engineering domains.
  • Apply engineering principles to support testing, analysis, and technical evaluation.
  • Understand and document environmental and operational impacts of submarine battery systems.

Experience and Skills:
  • Master's degree preferred, or Bachelor's with at least 5 years of relevant experience (specific technical strengths may be considered "in lieu" of full 7 years).
  • Demonstrated expertise in battery systems, chemical or electrical processes, or root cause analysis preferred.
  • Must be ready to learn quickly, contribute immediately, and grow with the program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary teams.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Background in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering also acceptable.
  • Experience with technical reporting, stakeholder communication, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Familiarity with Navy systems or defense-related environments is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in lab and office settings.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.

Travel:

May require occasional CONUS travel.
