The Shockwave Value Stream is seeking a Database
Engineer to support the Stormbreaker Program's
Database Team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design, implement, and maintain high-availability database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
Proactively monitor database and server performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement preventative measures to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.
Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies, disaster recovery plans, and security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and ensure business continuity.
Manage and administer server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualized environments, including patching, upgrades, and configuration management.
Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database queries, design efficient data models, and provide technical guidance on database-related issues.
Lead and participate in IT projects related to database infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
You will collaborate with an enthusiastic team of software, systems, and test engineers using the Kanban Agile Development methodology.
Must have experience with one or more scripting such as BASH or Perl
A TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start
This is an EARLY-MID CAREER (level 3) ROLE where candidates typically require 5+ years of professional experience and a BS degree or above.

Basic Qualifications
Experience with product development, maintenance
and/or utilization of one or more of the following:
Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, DB2, SQL Server
Experience with one or more scripting such as BASH
or Perl
Skillset experience with performance tuning, query optimization, database design, and implementation.
Experience in database backup and recovery, security implementation, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability solutions.
In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix) and server hardware.
Understanding of networking concepts, storage systems, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Desired skills
Prior experiences with Gitlab, Atlassian Tool Suites
such as JIRA, Confluence
Prior experiences with Agile framework
Experience with DevOps
Demonstrated use of data to make data driven decisions
Demonstrated expertise in Scaled Agile development methodologies

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
