How You'll Make an Impact
The Industry Relations Manager is responsible for providing subject matter expertise in identifying automation opportunities within the industry to ensure a digital experience for our clients. This individual works with dealers and back-office providers to identify and address opportunities to promote a more digital end to end process in the industry.
The Industry Relations Manager is responsible for analyzing, escalating, and communicating Fidelity Investment Canada's operational activities as it pertains to money movement, settlement, and other operational activities. This individual is a subject matter expert for FIC represents Operations on key projects, issue resolution and processes within FIC. This incumbent also represents Fidelity or Client Services in various working groups both at Fidelity forums as well as provide representation on external industry groups, such as IFIC and Fundserv.

The Industry Relations Manager is responsible for analyzing, escalating, and communicating Fidelity Investment Canada's operational activities as it pertains to money movement, settlement, and other operational activities. This individual is a subject matter expert for FIC represents Operations on key projects, issue resolution and processes within FIC. This incumbent also represents Fidelity or Client Services in various working groups both at Fidelity forums as well as provide representation on external industry groups, such as IFIC and Fundserv.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Digitalization Analysis
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify, validate, and define any opportunities for improvement in Dealer automation to promote a more digital experience by reducing manual entry.
- Gather information and develop a comprehensive understanding of Dealer operations and their general capabilities to provide more automated solutions.
- Provide subject matter expertise on large initiatives as it pertains to Fidelity transfer agency operations.
- Support the interpretation of policy or regulatory changes and be a strong subject matter expert in implementing these changes in accordance with FIC mutual fund operations.
2. Internal and External Working Group/Back Office Relationship Management
- Act as Fidelity CS operational subject matter expert on external working groups/committees ensuring the needs of FIC are balanced against the greater good of the Industry i.e. IFIC and Fundserv.
- Provide internal guidance on Fundserv and regulatory practices to support FIC's mutual fund operations teams and the various FIC business partners as it relates to daily operational performance / capabilities.
- Work with Dealer Relations Managers to assess impact of proposed processes and/or system changes to Dealer's operations
- Develop strong relationships with back-office providers such as Broadridge, Univeris, etc. to identify opportunities to promote automation with dealers.
3. Operational and Escalation Support
- Responsible for being the key point of contact for escalations as it pertains to automated money movement and settlement activity within FIC mutual fund operations and across Fundserv.
- Respond to operational questions as it relates to the industry and or competitor capabilities.
- Support FIC mutual funds operations by acting as a subject matter of expertise on internal FIC initiatives and issues.
- Act as the Fidelity CS operational subject matter expert on the review of new products and initiatives against known regulatory and industry standards to identify impacted areas and ensure that these issues/changes are addressed.
- Liaise with Compliance and IT as the Operations specialist able to weigh in and assess impact to CS Operations as it pertains to the end-to-end transfer agency process.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Financial Services industry
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong relationship, communication and analytical skills.
- Experience involving a deep understanding of Fundserv and Dealer Operations would be an asset.
- Experience in a relationship management role would be an asset.
- Bilingualism in English/French would be an asset.
The Expertise You Bring
- Advanced knowledge of mutual fund operations where money movement, trading automation and net settlements is concerned
- Advanced knowledge of Distributor processes and systems and Fundserv
- Advanced analysis and problem-solving competency.
- Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills including experience presenting to Senior Executives.
- Ability to work in a team and share subject matter expertise across the organization.
