In this role, responsibilities will include, but not limited to: own and lead the Credit Union's regulatory call reporting and financial reporting processes. Participate in providing relevant and timely financial information for the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) and Department of Business Oversight (DBO), and senior management reporting (including the enhancing and expanding of current reporting capabilities). Produce the bank's financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP, NCUAIDBO regulations, and other relevant requirements. Support technical accounting research as necessary. Support compliance with internal control requirements by developing, maintaining, and testing documentation and processes around financial reporting controls. This role also includes leadership to help transform Patelco as a data-driven organization and position the Credit Union as a technology leader.
The successful candidate will have the ability to perform complex tasks requiring advanced professional experience, knowledge and competency in accounting principles and practices. They will possess the ability to utilize discretion and judgment on assignments that are varied, diverse and difficult in nature. The candidate will possess the ability to embrace, and meet the changing needs of the department, while working to create efficient processes within the overall Accounting and Finance teams.

Responsibilities
- Own and manage the preparation and filing of the Credit Union's regulatory Call Report and other regulatory reports and ensure their consistency with the financial statements.
- Oversee Patelco's regulatory reporting obligations and ensure timely submission of all required filings, as necessary.
- Lead all financial reporting for Patelco - including monthly financials, Board financials and materials, monthly variance analyses, close reporting processes, and annual financials.
- Research and implement new regulatory reporting guidance, including new reporting requirements as the credit union grows in size, assess impact, and ensure compliance for accurate reporting.
- Assess, develop, and maintain proper controls, robust documentation, and change management approach for all reporting areas to provide assurance that Patelco is operating a best-in-class reporting environment.
- Assess and scope new reporting requirements and establish the reporting processes to enable automation of the reporting processes.
- Work closely with our financial and accounting teams to ensure financial reporting and decision support is consistent in all future regulatory applications.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on regulatory changes and industry landscape.
- Work with the Credit Union's independent and internal auditors and examiners in their quarterly and annual reviews and audits, coordinating accounting related inquiries and requests.
- Own and manage the 'Prepared by Client' listings requested by external auditors and examiners.
- Assist with research and help provide technical guidance/draft memos on accounting transactions, new accounting guidance and new regulatory guidance.
- Assist in re-engineering existing processes (where needed) to improve efficiencies and enhance controls in financial reporting.
- Act as the Accounting project liaison for all internal projects which impact the Accounting department.
- Provide guidance to our business partners to ensure projects incorporate correct accounting, including the impact to the general ledger. Assist with mapping of GL accounts as part of the project implementation.
- Lead team that enables the building of end-to-end data and analytics solutions (i.e. ingesting data, modeling data, analyzing data, developing reports / dashboards, and sharing insights) to meet organization priorities and timelines.
- Build strong working relationships with other business partners throughout the organization.
- Lead a team and build out further, as necessary, to support these efforts.
- Perform ad hoc projects as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance
- 10 years of business / accounting experience
- 5 years of people management experience
- Knowledge of Call Reporting requirements for NCUA and the DBO is a plus
- Strong and demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Financial institution experience preferred
