Position Summary

The Market Area President is responsible for overseeing all phases of the market location, to include providing leadership, direction, public representation, and guidance of the company's operations, lending programs, other products and services. Responsible for development and maintenance of commercial loan portfolios, with the goal of providing maximum profitability with minimum risk. Accountable for coordination of individual deposit development activities and strategies that promote core deposit growth by attracting new business and building multiple relationships with existing customers. The Market Area President reports directly to the President and works regularly with Executive Management to report and discuss financial and operational results of the branch office.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing a business plan to ensure the bank meets key goals in the key performance areas of: loan growth, deposit growth, non-interest income growth, non-interest expense control and pre-tax profit attainment.
  • Developing and maintaining key business relationships with local government officials, civic leaders, City Advisory Board members, business leaders, current customers, and prospects. Effectively interface with bank personnel such as bank loan administrator, lenders, and bank administrators. The Market President also represents the bank at various civic and business functions, serving in leadership capacities on civic and non-profit boards.
  • Gaining and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the area economy, influential people, history, and culture.
  • Supporting and growing the commercial banking business by actively prospecting for new business, leading/participating in the credit structuring, pricing and approval processes, and supporting front line managers whenever possible. Manage credit portfolio, monitor credit quality, and data integrity. Includes but not limited to loan renewals, reviewing current financial statements and collateral valuations, analyzing borrowing base certificates, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, reviewing/approving advance requests, monitoring delinquency and risk grading and administration of loan covenants.
  • Adhere to the Bank's credit policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a working understanding of all financial products and services with primary focus being commercial and small business relationships.
  • Increase the deposit and loan base of the local office based on goals established by bank management.
  • Proactively promote and solicit new customers through in-person contacts, telephone calls and appreciation calls.
  • Regular meeting with officers and key staff, communication of policies and goals, delegation of daily office responsibilities.

    • Must have excellent analysis, observation and decision-making skills.
    • Highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with Board members, officers, employees, and members of the business and civic community.
    • Provides a strong, compassionate, and visible leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers, and prospects.
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Comply with federal and state regulations as well as all established Bank policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications, Education and Experience Requirements
    • Must have a four-year college degree in Finance/Business/Accounting/Economics, preferred.
    • Ten (10) years of banking experience, minimum 5-7 years in management.
    • Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills at all levels.
    • Expert knowledge of credit products (formal credit analysis training, required).
    • Strong Financial and analytic skills and ability to rapidly assimilate complex information.
    • Must be able to be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.
