The Senior Project Manager will manage capital projects for the Corporate Engineering department, providing support across all business segments with primary focus on projects within the Energy & Specialty Solutions segment.
Projects typically range in size from $5M-$100M+.This position will work closely with Facility Management and Business Unit Operations personnel to initiate and guide the scoping, budgeting, and execution planning for major capital projects and participate in long-term facility planning. Additionally, this person will work to continuously improve and oversee project management and controls processes, implement best practices, and champion sound execution and contracting strategies.
The Senior Project Manager may be required to directly oversee two or more Project Engineers/ Managers.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONA Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred.A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in project management/ engineering is required.Experience in the oil and gas or chemical or other energy sector is strongly preferred.Experience working with multi-disciplined engineering firms is required.Culture match between the employee and Company's culture and core values is key to success.Passion for fostering strong teamwork and collaborationAbility to lead project teams, consultants, and contractors with minimal supervisionAbility to bring insight into industry best practices and implement within our organizationExcellent communication skills are required across all platforms of written, verbal, etc. and across all levels of the company.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIESThis role may include, and not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
Manage multi-disciplinary projects from concept to completion, providing consistency and excellence across the spectrum of deliverables from project management processes to business objectives.Ownership, oversight, and review of project designs, scope development, cost and schedule estimates, project KPl's, contractor/consultant deliverables, project execution, close-out, etc. Participate in the development of project justification, economics, and alternatives analysis. Proactively manage communication and stakeholder engagement with Business Units/the Customer regarding projects under management.Participate and/or lead risk management assessments of projects, facilities, or processes. Development and guidance in contracting strategy, contractor selection process, and construction management planning.Participate in or lead the development of corporate policies and procedures for development and execution of major capital projects, including PM value improving practices within the organization. Vet qualifications, develop depth, and maintain relationships with consultants and contractors.Participate in development of yearly and quarterly major capital budgets with business segments. Develop Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs) to request funding approval from management.Participate in PSSR, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting activities, and steward project close out and documentation turnover activities.Interface with facility Turnaround (TAR) planning to incorporate capital TAR scopes; provide execution support and facilitation during TARMentor junior project engineers in PM excellence and processes. Participate in M&A due diligence and green-field expansion evaluations.
