Job Description

The R&D, BD and Alliances, Finance Manager leads the coordination and consolidation of R&D cost forecasts for Business Development assessments including licensing, acquisitions, and collaboration opportunities. The role interacts cross-functionally with project teams to cost asset development plans, review modeling assumptions, and support ad-hoc BD requests. Key stakeholders include Portfolio Program Management, Business Development & Acquisition, BD&A Finance, Search and Evaluation, Strategic Resourcing, and Business Functional Directors and VPs. The candidate will also be responsible for the growth and development of one direct report.

Responsibilities
  • Building R&D cost models for BD assessments, collaborating with cross functional contacts to collect model inputs and pressure test assumptions.
  • Responsible for updating R&D Cost Summaries for BD governance reviews to enable strong decision making on strategic investments.
  • Lead monthly BD updates with R&D VP ensuring deal awareness and Day 1 budget impacts.
  • Supervise R&D Partner Funding month-end activities and submissions for all aspects of monthly, quarterly, annual Plan, LRP and LBEs as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide Finance support for the transition and operationalization of newly executed BD agreements into R&D Organization, including preparation of Corporate and Integration Team deliverables.


  • Supports key projects and initiatives (e.g. R&D cost modeling standardization, BD deal reporting and optimization) and drives process improvements.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA or MBA a plus.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive and well-rounded finance related experience.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement process improvements, establish and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with all levels of management and including the ability to listen well and to influence others that do not report directly.
  • Proficient Excel and PPT skills required.
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPC, and Workiva is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience desired.
