TITLE: Senior Mechanical Engineer, Product Performance

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Mechanical Engineer in Product Performance will join a cross functional team focused on identifying key performance criteria and developing robust test methods that will accelerate the development of medical instruments for our robotic platform.

The ideal candidate would act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • As a member of the Product Performance Team, you will help develop the instruments for a groundbreaking flexible robotic endoscopy platform. Specifically, this role focuses on defining our functional criteria for success and methods to evaluate those criteria.
  • Developing test methods, protocols, reports and conclusions to improve devices and processes.
  • Design and building test fixtures including features such as fluidic pathways, seals, gears, latches, electrical-mechanical components, control circuitry, controllers, etc.
  • Significant hands-on experience building and testing of multiple generations of prototypes.
  • Collaborate with NPI and manufacturing to use DFM principles and develop lean processes to maintain high device performance while minimizing cost.
  • Work closely with vendors.
  • Create and maintain Solidworks CAD models and detailed drawings.
  • Create analytical documents, including test methods, protocols, structural analysis, and test reports.
  • Thinking flexibly and creatively about the problems you are trying to solve and figuring out a way forward.
  • Working closely with clinicians and clinical marketing to understand clinical needs that lead to product performance specifications
  • Working well within the confines of a regulated, quality-system driven, medical device environment including supporting the creation and maintenance of risk management analysis and documentation.
  • Showing a high degree of self-direction

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Experience in medical device engineering development
  • 5+ years of work experience as a hands-on mechanical engineer
  • Significant hands-on building and testing of prototypes.
  • A willingness to work hard, with a driven outlook and with a strong desire to succeed as an engineer, as part of a team, and as a company
  • An inventive aptitude balanced with discipline and detail-orientation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Developed products from invention to market release.
  • Experience in a start-up environment wearing multiple hats.
  • Experience with industrial design and product design.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks.
  • Experience with medical device manufacturing.

Triton Robotics is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART Station

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $140,000 and $170,000 depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity, benefits and 401(K) with matching.
