We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled First Article Inspection (FAI) Reviewer to join our team. The FAI Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and compliance of first article inspections on parts and assemblies in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. This role ensures that the initial production run meets all quality requirements and is in line with the defined manufacturing processes.

This is an on-site position located in Fairfield, California. The candidate must live in commutable distance to our Fairfield site.

What You Will Do
  • Review First Article Inspections (FAI) for new or modified parts, assemblies, or materials.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to dimensional, material, and functional specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with our suppliers to address and resolve any FAI issues identified in their FAIR reports.
  • Communicate effectively with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve any discrepancies or non-conformities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Assist in training and providing guidance to other team members regarding FAI procedures and best practices.
  • Continuously improve the FAI process by identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Respond to urgent and priority items accordingly.
  • Knowledge of special process assessments and audits, including but not limited to NDT, heat treating, welding, brazing, plating, and chemical processing specifications.
  • Strong understanding of the AS9100 and AS9102 standards, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and first article inspection processes in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Assist the team with coordination and administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support deployment of digital solutions and automated data analytics to achieve alignment and improved user experiences.
  • Work closely with supplier FAI COE team in Cedar Rapids, IA.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in quality control, inspection, or related fields.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements (AS9102, PPAP, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, Net-Inspect etc.).
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, making sound decisions based on findings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with different teams effectively.
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and ERP systems and digital tools is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

The salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 144,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
