Summary

The manager is responsible for management of the Technology Innovation (TI) Lab. This position also manages Protection, Automation & Control (PAC) training programs to ensure personnel are skilled in all phases of current and future industry technologies and provides a well-developed program that incorporates On-the-Job training (OJT) and related instruction. The manager responsibilities also include the management of PAC's research & development projects (lab & field pilots) on emerging protection, automation, and control operational technologies in support of corporate strategies.

What You'll Do

  • Manages PAC's training programs to ensure employees are skilled in all phases of the industry and provide a well-developed program that incorporates On-the-Job training (OJT) and related instruction.
  • Supervises the use of contractors/employees for developing and/or delivering training material.
  • Collaborates with business departments within PAC to develop a holistic training approach.
  • Schedules and assigns Subject Matter Experts for training delivery.
  • Assists with PAC's R&D development roadmap. Seek out, identify, develop, initiate, and manage research projects of pertinence and interest to SRP and the department.
  • Manages and oversees engineering support performing functional testing of new technologies in support of department's strategic plans. Develops test plans and documents results.
  • Directs engineers/technicians in performing value engineering analysis.

Manages the Technology Innovation (TI) Lab on behalf of PAC and stakeholders including:
  • Managing lab O&M budget and provide reports to stakeholders
  • Assisting with R&D development roadmap to keep lab facility up to date
  • Supervising facility updates and major equipment changes or redesigns
  • Maintaining physical needs of the lab
  • Providing a lab single point of contact to outside groups
  • Ensuring personnel and lab equipment safety during training
  • Assisting with troubleshooting of lab circuitry and lab testing
  • Maintaining lab information system by identifying information needs and problems
  • Recommending process improvements to lab use and training implementation
  • Preparing training facility for trainings, labs, and tours


What It Takes To Succeed

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an engineer, protection specialist or related field.


Experience

A minimum of seven years of related experience is required (if no degree, 11 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling 11 years).

Education

A bachelor's degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
