We are seeking a skilled attorney to support international trade, sanctions, export control, and supply chain regulatory matters for Amazon Web Services (AWS). This includes providing counsel on import (Customs) matters, tariffs, and assisting with a broad range of import, export, and sanctions regulatory and commercial matters, including on areas of developing international trade law; supporting regulatory engagements; collaborating globally to develop innovative international trade compliance solutions; and offering guidance on forthcoming regulations and enforcement trends. The role involves working directly with business units and cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will provide strategic input on legal and business decisions, navigate complex regulatory environments, and employ creative approaches to problem solving. This position plays a crucial role in supporting AWS globally and requires a talented and motivated individual capable of managing a broad range of matters, in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

This role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to join a collaborative, tight-knit team that is leading exciting and pioneering global initiatives as part of a business that is making history. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of legal experience

- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

- Knowledge of import (Customs) matters, tariffs, and other areas of international trade laws; or experience in other areas of regulatory law and the ability and interest in pivoting to the specific practice areas included above

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work

- Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent

- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines

- Ability to work independently, decisively, and creatively, while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams

- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Ability to provide practical and business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment, even in ambiguous situations

- Excellent interpersonal skills, a desire to be challenged, and the ability to be a partner to business stakeholders

- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity

- Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor
