About the Job
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for leading and managing the technical aspects of a project or projects. The PE leads the planning and execution of the engineering project team, ensuring that cost, schedule, and technical requirements are met in the delivery of products and services to the customer. The PE must possess a broad skill set encompassing project management and engineering, in the areas of systems, software, or integration and test. Furthermore, the PE must have excellent organizational and communication abilities, enabling effective interaction with customers, leadership, the execution team, and a myriad of stakeholders throughout the program's lifecycle.

About the Job
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for leading and managing the technical aspects of a project or projects. The PE must possess a broad skill set encompassing project management and engineering, in the areas of systems, software, or integration and test. Furthermore, the PE must have excellent organizational and communication abilities, enabling effective interaction with customers, leadership, the execution team, and a myriad of stakeholders throughout the program's lifecycle.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as primary technical point of contact for respective project(s), across all engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical and programmatic direction to engineering team.
- Lead technical, schedule, and budget planning for the engineering aspects of the program(s).
- Lead engineering team in meeting all technical delivery milestones and contractual requirements in accordance with program execution budget and schedule.
- Apply structured technical project management approaches across the program life cycle using e.g. earned value management, MS Project, Scrum, JIRA, etc.
- Lead technical risk management for the program.
- Continuously engage with the engineering project team to remove obstacles, provide guidance, direction, and information, gather status, and drive progress toward the plan, using informal means and frequent regular structured cadences like daily scrum stand-ups.
- Monitor and control engineering aspects of program including scope, cost, schedule, technical quality, and performance, using effective metrics and proactive and corrective actions.
- Lead technical milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.).
- Fill engineering staffing needs for the projects in coordination with engineering management.
- Coordinate with engineering management to hold project staff accountable to expectations.
- Lead technical bids and proposals that are executable and competitive.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field (will consider years of related experience in lieu of degree).
- US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- 3+ years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- 3+ years of technical project management experience on programs involving systems engineering, software development, networking, and system integration.
- Experience in requirements development, integration and test, and customer buy-off.
- Familiarity with reference architectures, architecture standards, and interfaces.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
