Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, validate, and maintain advanced in-house scientific software that integrates physics-based modeling with data-driven insights to support next-generation instrumentation.
- Build computational models to simulate complex interactions involving charged particle beams, materials behavior, and beam-sample dynamics.
- Lead key computational initiatives aligned with the group's 5-year technology roadmap, managing core projects or specialized components from concept through deployment.
- Contribute to the innovation pipeline by developing novel technical solutions and supporting the creation of invention disclosures and patent applications.
- Stay updated on emerging computational techniques, modeling strategies, and standard methodologies relevant to the field.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to align modeling efforts with experimental goals.
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD degree in Physics, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Proven experience with software engineering for scientific applications.
- Extensive experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Julia, C++, or C#.
- Familiarity with numerical methods for ordinary and partial differential equations and computational electromagnetism, like FEM, MoM/BEM, and level-set methods.
- Solid grasp of fundamental concepts and methodologies in software development.
- Experience with machine learning and/or numerical optimization and relevant high-level libraries such as JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Experience with version control (e.g., GitHub/GitLab).
- Experience working effectively in both independent and collaborative team settings, including cross-functional teamwork.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments and parallel computing frameworks (e.g., OpenMP, MPI).
- Experience with computer vision and image processing.
- Experience with GPU acceleration (e.g., CUDA).
- Experience with data processing and analysis.
- Experience writing software for hardware control.
- Hands-on experience with using FIB-SEM systems is a plus.
