The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Project Manager to join us in our growing Victoria Uptown office. Often partnering with other internal disciplines across WSP, the team is responsible for delivering long-term, complex projects in Land Development and municipal engineering, covering the entire project life-cycle from conceptual planning & design, through to construction management and client hand-over.

As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will cover multiple projects in Victoria and across Vancouver Island. You will form partnerships both internally and externally and will be integral to developing and executing project delivery strategy. You will manage financial and technical aspects of all projects through the full project lifecycle from early project phase, proposals and business development activities, to overseeing engineering, design & approvals to office assistance for contract administration and construction.

This is an in-office position based out of Victoria, British Columbia and, while we welcome applicants from across Canada, successful candidates will be expected to be located within the southern Vancouver Island region. Relocation assistance to Victoria will be considered.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions in a professional and ethical manner;
  • Work on and oversee staff efforts on a variety of project components including road works, sanitary and storm systems, water distribution systems, storm water management, and lift stations;
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans, including plan & profiles, sections and details for design, preparing specifications and contract documents, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets;
  • Develop stormwater management plans and undertake modelling;
  • Prepare proposals;
  • Business development activities;
  • Mentor and develop the skills of junior staff;
  • Manage each project to ensure client expectations and business unit standards are met; and
  • Field review, contract administration and resolving construction issues


What you'll bring to WSP:
  • An undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university;
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in the engineering and design of municipal infrastructure and land development projects including water, wastewater and drainage infrastructure;
  • Professional Engineer registered with EGBC;
  • Experience with engineering of roads, water, sanitary and drainage systems, particularly on Vancouver Island;
  • Demonstrated experience with management of engineering projects;
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software and MMCD documents;
  • Experience in construction services including tender preparation, contract administration, and field review;
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines both independently and part of a project team;
  • Strong focus on managing multiple projects with a solid commitment to exceptional client service on an ongoing basis.


Compensation

Salary range (in British Columbia): $96,200 - $132,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
