Quality Control Supervisor, Port Angeles, Washington

When you join our team as a Quality Control Supervisor, you will manage the lumberrecovery and grade recovery performances of the site while ensuring the finalproduct meets Interfor grade specifications and satisfies customerrequirements. You will conduct all quality assurance audits andmanage the processes necessary to maintain our operational quality standards.In addition to providing scheduled reports, the position will facilitate teamcommunication to drive corrective action through root cause analysis.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring employees follow all policies, procedures, practices and regulations.
  • Oversee manufacturing quality, meeting product specifications and customer expectations while maximizing outturns
  • Maintain a comprehensive QC program with input from the QC Superintendent.
  • Conduct daily quality and process audits, along with routine scanner calibrations.
  • Foster the continuous improvement process by working closely with production and maintenance staff in resolving quality issues.
  • Follow-up with "Out-of-Spec" situations until corrective plans are completed.
  • Report out specified key performance indicators and communications; specific to quality and associated processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve lumber and grade recoveries.
  • Interface with Grade Agency Inspectors during their routine inspections.
  • Available to direct operational teams in supervisor's absence.

What You Offer
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent preferred.
  • 3 years of sawmill, planer or related experience
  • Knowledge and experience within lumber manufacturing and sawmill operations.
  • Knowledge of ALSC grading rules or equivalent desired.
  • Experience in statistical process control and associated software desired (Minitab/etc).
  • Possess an advanced computer skillset which is required for scanner calibrations.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with maintaining focus and attention to detail.
  • Experience with interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities working effectively within a team.
  • Familiarity with trouble-shooting systems, being analytical, and solving problems.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite with emphasis in Word/Excel.

Interfor has posted the following expected salary rangethat the company believes in good faith could be offered to successfulcandidates. The salary offered is benchmarked to current market conditions andwill also be based on numerous factors which can include work experience,skills, credentials, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to acompetitive salary, you will receive a competitive benefits package and be ableto participate in our Short-Term Incentive Bonus plan, with the payout amountsubject to individual and corporate performance. Expected range: $85,000- $95,000
