  • Location: FinDev Canada headquarters is in downtown Montreal. For the right candidate, Ottawa or Toronto will be considered, with the flexibility to work under a hybrid model (home/office).

    • Marketing & Communications 20: $127,380 - $169,838, plus a performance-based incentive

Position Overview
  • Establish and manage external and internal communications and strategic communications for FinDev Canada
  • Implement a holistic communication strategy for the corporation, supported by key performance indicators and utilizing all communications channels deemed relevant and appropriate.
  • Develop and evolve policies and programs to increase employee awareness and knowledge of activities affecting employees and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates the development of strategic and action plans, communications materials and content with creative writing services and design to effectively represent the products, services, brands and/or the organization to customers, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Applies various communication strategies to establish and protect the reputation of the organization, position it as a leader in specific areas, raise awareness, and encourage different audiences to interact with it.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead the development and implementation of the marketing and communication strategy, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities, and ensuring integration with the broader organizational strategy.
  • Direct all external and internal communications activities, including those related to brand management and external promotion
  • Provide strategic advice and influence in support to corporate initiatives, develops and supports effective external and internal communications, including media relations, relations with stakeholders and develops the corporation's prime external communications vehicles
  • Lead the development and dissemination of communication tools and content related to the corporation's opportunities and challenges
  • Develop strategies for and oversee the corporation's key communications tools and channels.
  • Coach and direct the performance and skill/career development of a high performing team ensuring staff have adequate capacity and capability to address the communications needs of the corporation
  • Scope, direct, and oversee the management of key vendor activities, including in areas related to translation.
  • Identify and manage all communications activities which support and drive external stakeholder engagement, including relating to senior executive outreach. This will include assessing strategic communications opportunities and leading/ coordinating the development of plans which support the corporation's stakeholder priorities.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in strategic communications, editing and/or public relations, or related experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role
  • Purpose-driven, creative, customer focus, results oriented, inspirational
  • Proactive strategist who can balance competing interests to drive effective communications
  • Advanced knowledge of strategic communications principles and practices (internal, external and digital communications)
  • Ability to build strong relationships within a complex stakeholder environment at all levels of an organization
  • Strong experience in crisis management
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and report writing skills
  • Bilingual (English and French)

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in managing a translation service or translation providers
  • Experience working in a global environment, and particularly in a financial institution
  • Experience working in development finance
  • Experience working within the government, crown corporation or government agency
  • An existing network of media
  • Experience leading major projects
  • Advanced knowledge in media monitoring tools (daily news, breaking news, trending topics and alerts)
