POSITION DESCRIPTION:

EnFin is looking for a Data Science Manager to work on creating and deploying Machine Learning models that power key aspects of business. This role is critical to the success of EnFin, directly impacting our revenue generation through predictive modeling, innovative algorithms, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Consumer Lending industry or an ML-centric technology company. This position will be based out of one of our offices in Irvine, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Teaneck, NJ, with an in-office schedule that is set at the direct manager's discretion in accordance with the company policies and procedures. Remote options are available for exceptional cases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Research and develop new machine learning models to enhance the accuracy of predictions in borrower risk, underwriting processes, asset/portfolio performance or other critical business functions.
  • Developing and Implementing credit scoring models, analyzing financial data, identifying fraud patterns, and improving the credit decisioning engine through data driven insights.
  • Design, prototype, and deploy models to production, ensuring robust and scalable implementations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and product managers to experiment with and optimize models for business outcomes.
  • Evaluate the performance of models, interpret their impact on business metrics, and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Continuously explore novel algorithms and methodologies to keep EnFin's ML systems at the cutting edge of technology.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in scientific or quantitative discipline (e.g., Math, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Data Science) with a minimum of 10+ years of experience including 4+ years of experience in Machine Learning or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, probability, and machine learning theory.
  • Full-stack expertise in the modeling process from ideation to production, OR deep expertise in either statistical modeling or machine learning.
  • An ability to break down complex tasks into smaller steps and make the right tradeoffs to deliver projects on time.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and deliver regular executive-level updates, incorporating data trends and actionable insights.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Understanding of advanced AI/ML topics such as model monitoring, fairness, and explainability.
  • Strong sense of intellectual curiosity, humility, and teamwork.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree or PhD in quantitative discipline (e.g., Math, Physics, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science).
  • Deep expertise in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks.
  • Proficiency in building and deploying machine learning pipelines and engineering architecture.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to develop testable hypotheses.
  • Proven ability to meet high standards in terms of quality and velocity with minimal direction.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job's minimum qualifications.
