Description

The Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies requests applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track, full time associate or assistant professor position. The Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science programs with a major in nursing have three tracks: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). The Bachelor of Science program with a major in nursing began in fall 2021. The School also offers a Master of Science in Cardiovascular Sciences and Perfusion Medicine. Courses for the graduate programs within the Nursing department are offered throughout the academic year including Fall, Spring, January and Summer sessions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide instruction to Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Nursing Practice students.
  • Demonstrate competence in teaching.
  • Reviews and updates syllabi and assures materials are up to date on the learning management system (i.e. Canvas).
  • Instructs, develops, distributes, monitors, and grades student assignments and assessments independently.
  • Create innovative curricula utilizing experiential pedagogies and adult learning theory
  • Participate in curriculum development, design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the program.
  • Attends, prepares for, and participates in meetings (i.e. faculty governance, retreat, university, and other departmental/school meetings) Engage in community service above and beyond faculty requirements.
  • Engage in lifelong learning as evidenced by participation in professional and faculty development.
  • Evidence of progressive participation and leadership of national/international professional organizations.
  • Fulfills scholarly activity requirements per promotion and tenure standards (i.e. grant writing, publications, presentations).
  • Participate in University-wide and community admission/recruitment events and similar activities as required.
  • Participate in the student application process.
  • Provide advisement to and address the needs of students.
  • Maintain clinical/professional experience in the field of accreditation of undergraduate and graduate-level programs, namely Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and Accreditation Committee-Perfusion Education (AC-PE).


Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in nursing required.
  • Must have active New York State Registered Nurse license.
  • Specialty certification preferred, required for the graduate level.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, leadership, and time management skills.
  • Outstanding computer skills are a must and include proficiency in learning management systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.


Preferred Quals Summary
  • Doctoral degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in teaching at the collegiate level preferred
  • 7 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Experience with Simulation preferred

Salary/Salary Range
$115,000-$135,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
