Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Manager Software Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located onsite in Melbourne, FL.
This exciting position offers the opportunity to manage a team and contribute to design, develop, integrate, and test software applications and systems for our end-user customers and businesses. Specifically, you will be responsible for leading a team working on design, architecture, development, and administration of Mission Systems Software OFP.
You will collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Real-time & Embedded Software, Test Automation, DevOps, and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment. You will oversee and review system capabilities that resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.

Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $202,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Manage and lead a team in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
- Responsible to participate in planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract.
- Manage workflow requests from other product leads within the Software IPT, as well as product leads from other IPTs.
- Collaborate on Agile Scrum teams to deliver software development life cycle of software products for multiple software baselines.
- Responsible for managing staffing and reporting status and metrics to IPT and Functional leadership.
- Provide functional management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, disciplinary actions, and direct engagement.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a STEM Master's Degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development.
- Experience with Agile Framework within the last 3 years.
- Experience developing software and scripts in C++ AND Python for Embedded Safety-Critical applications/Systems within the last 3 years.
- Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, Bitbucket, Git, AND/OR Bamboo within the last 3 years.
- Experience architecting, Designing, Modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), Implementing, Maintaining, Integrating, Debugging, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software written in OO C++ running on Real-Time Operating Systems such as: Real Time Embedded Linux, Integrity, AND/OR VxWorks within the last 3 years.
- Experience with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, AND/OR Fortify within the last 3 years.
- Experience in management of product activities for a team of developers, employing an Agile-focused process.
- Experience in management of workflow requests from other product leads within the Software IPT, as well as product leads from other IPTs.
- Experience with product ownership representation at all cross-product and cross-IPT meetings.
- Experience as the Primary product owner representative at technical reviews to senior management and Customer stakeholders.
- Experience as a product owner for managing staffing and reporting status and metrics to IPT and Functional leadership.
- Recent and or ability to demonstrate functional management duties including conducting performance assessments, staffing, employee development, communication meetings, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval and other routine personnel issues.
- Current Active DoD Secret level clearance, with special program access (PAR) prior to commencement of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience being a product owner of a product team working closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT), Software Architects, and Functional Leadership.
- Experience as a product owner leading a product team through the software development phases of architecture, requirements, design, implementation and testing.
- Experience as a product owner flowing down system level architecture/requirements and setting the technical direction for a software team (5-10 engineers) to execute.
- Experience as a product owner in the effective execution of an Agile-focused software lifecycle process at the product level which includes participating a product Configuration Control Board (CCB) and tracking and reporting all relevant software metrics.
- Experience with cross-product coordination within the various IPTs, coordination within the program, and allocation of developer resources.
- Experience with functional management duties including conducting performance assessments, staffing, employee development, communication meetings, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval and other routine personnel issues.
- Experience establishing common processes and practices in cooperation across the sector.
- Active Top Secret (in-scope), with the ability to and maintain special program access (PAR).
